why do you need a light BMX ? usually BMX aren't made out light, we look for sturdiness, like in a Hoffman or GT. The wheelset is usually the 36 or now 48spokes.. we need it strong if you are doing jump, or ramp.In Street Freestyle you need a strong bike also not light bikes. Cheers

It depends on what kind of riding you're planning on doing. Racing and freestyle bikes are pretty different. I'm not too familar with current racing bikes, but if you're looking for a bike to ride street, park, and trails, there are a few companies. FIT makes a Series 3 and Series 3.5 frame that is the best frame available right now. (In my opinion and a lot of other rider's) I have the S3 and wouldn't trade it for anything. Its super light, strong, and the top tube sets an inch lower than the top tubes on other frames. It doesn't change the geometry of the frame, but it makes it a lot more comfortable. S&M, Metal, FBM, and Terrible 1 are also among the best American made bike companies that make light and strong frames, but since they all cost about the same, I would go with the FIT because it simply feels better to ride than all the others.

There were a couple Titanium HH frames out there but they didnt catch on because they were expensive. If you want a somewhat decent priced frame you can find a couple aluminum frames from Intense or Hyper that are pretty light. If you want chromoly then go with Standard they make pretty much the lightest chromoly bikes on the planet because they use OX tempered 4130. Their 125R is the lightest because its the race frame but the TRLS 250 frame is a good light trail frame. Fit bikes also make some pretty good street trail bikes to. Just depends on if you are looking for a race frame or trails/street frame you didnt specify.

Forget the brand. The lightest BMX bikes will be very expensive, perhaps $1000 or more.

I am guessing if you are looking for the lightest you are racing. The lightest BMX racing frames are the Supercross (www.supercrossbmx.com) S7 frames. They are made with Scandium alloy. Scandium is added in to aluminum alloy which aligns the molecules up when it is welded. A Supercross Pro XL S7 weighs in around 2.5 lbs for the frame. That is a 21.25 top tube and it is lighter than titanium.
