Talk about making a fan base look bad. You don't expect this from baseball fan. If a call doesn't go you way too bad, that baseball. I'd be embarrassed if that was my team.

When a baseball is thrown and said to "curve" what is the actual amount possible deviation from straight line?

In the distance from pitcher's hand to the home plate how much deflection is possible in a curve ball? Is it measurable? How?

Fired or Contract Not Renewed?

As the raging debate over the future of Joe Torre continues, there have been some out there who say... Well he isn't being fired, his contract is not being renewed. I would gather that the outcome of this event is a matter of interpretation. If someone said to me, you have been with us for 12 years now, but we have decided not to renew your contract, you will have to seek employment elsewhere, I would interpret that as being fired, or should I say being terminated, from a position? So, by those out there who debate this, no contract, contract expired, so Joe really isn't being fired, I would have to say that some of you are sugar coating it. What do the rest of you say?

why do major league players come the Cubs with the mentallity that it is okay to lose?

for 100 years now Cubs fans have had to watch statistically good players miss the world series or miss the postseason entirely? what is it about the institution that nearly defines Chicago that makes atheletes simply accept deafeat?

Why don't Hall of Fame voters elect more than 1 or 2 players a year (at most)?

There are definitely many deserving players who aren't in the Hall of Fame and whom as eligible (Jim Rice and Bert Blyleven among BBWAA eligibles and Gil Hodges and Bobby Bonds among Veterans Committee eligibles, just to name a few). I've heard about people who vote for nobody on their ballots (which is ridiculous; if you don't want to vote for anybody, why not just not send in your ballot?) and there were people who left off Cal Ripkin and Tony Gwynn. I expect that McGwire probably won't be elected next year even though he definitely belongs (though I agree with the decision not to elect him on the 1st ballot).

The Veterans Committee is even worse, as they haven't elected anybody since they added more people to the committee.

Why don't they elect more players into the Hall of Fame and what needs to be done to fix the problem?
