I completely agree with Kevin D. This has nothing to do with Torre's character. I think he is a class act guy, one of the classiest in baseball. But prior to the Yankees he did nothing. His first 6 years with the Yankees, anybody could have had that success with the team the Yankees had, it didn't matter who they had behind the bench. And the last 6 years, he hasn't gotten past the first round. So the players need to stop looking at him as a friend and remove their personal feelings for him and the Yankees need to bring in a manger. Torre is a good friend to everybody on that Yankees roster, that's the problem.

Buck Showalter did not really get fired for Torre to get the job. The Yankees just allowed his contract to run out, probably the same way Torre will end up leaving the team.

Buck Showalter got fired and Torre got hired. Torre managed the Braves in the early eighties and actually won a division title

Its pretty simple, he sucked in St. Louis, he sucked in Atlanta, he sucked for the Mets, and then good old Georgie said " that should be my next manager" I remember the NY media totally ragging on him when he was hired, no they are all crying because he has done nothing in 7 years with 200 million payrolls and they think he should stay?
