Talk about making a fan base look bad. You don't expect this from baseball fan. If a call doesn't go you way too bad, that baseball. I'd be embarrassed if that was my team.

If this happened at a football game I wouldn't be surprised but baseball fan are suppose to have more class. I've seen many bad calls but would never do anything like that. And I don't think this was even a bad call. Maybe the fans don't understand the game.

If this had happened with a big market team it would be so much more of a big deal it seem.

This is one time fans can't complain about an east coast bias.
As one answerer said, if this had happened in a big market (such as New York or Boston) you'd never hear the end of it.
So those of you in Arizona, be glad nobody cares about you.

Watching the game, I could see that most fans were displeased with the few that were throwing the bottles.
I can understand the fans being upset. The player involved had just been hit by a pitch. That is how he got on base. Then the player gets called out and called for interference. Seems to the Arizona fans that this player is getting picked on.
Everyone agrees that it was the right call by the umpire. Even the manager of the Diamondbacks agreed it was the right call.
No excuse for throwing anything on the field though.

I agree. I'd be so embarrased if St. Louis Cardinal fans did that. But thankfully, Cardinal fans are known for showing their support if a team/player does well enough. Like a week before the end of the season, when Cardinals were playing Houston, the fans gave a standing ovation for one player on Astros (who I believe was a past Cardinal) who had done well. THAT is how true baseball fans should be. Not like what the D-Back fans did.

Yeah the game starts and you see all the empty seats...kinda sad, really, for a playoff game. Then they act like Yankees fans when that play at second happens. I can understand them being upset but it was like they weren't sure how to deal with it, so they threw water bottles. Usually that's reserved for places like Yankee Stadium, Shea, Philly and Wrigley Field where the fans are notoriously rude.
Saying that, however, let's not forget that a lot of the fans probably didn't throw anything. It's just a case of a segment of the fans making a name for the whole crowd, fair or not.

let me add also that well have a fan base in about 10-15 yrs when all these kids grow up. everyone knows that arizona has a lot of retirees and people that move from all over the place so you cant expect there to be a strong central fan base like they have in ny or philly. not yet at least.

And how do you explain all the empty seats at Chase Field? They should move the Diamondbacks to a city where the fans will appreciate them. It's a joke.

They saw Red Sox fans do it once in the ALCS. They are just unoriginal fake fans.

I can't help thinking that if this had happened in Philly, it would be front-page news. The whole gamut of anti-Philadelphia feeling would surface.
