Because Delmon Young is being considered in the AL ROY talks. However, he played a good amount last year. My question here is -- Is there a rookie limit for either ABs or IPs? Delmon last year had 126 ABs in 30 games played.

A-Rod's Heroics Lift Yanks Past Mariners
By RONALD BLUM,AP

NEW YORK (AP) - Alex Rodriguez had a night befitting legends.

The Yankees planned to take him out of the starting lineup because of his sprained right ankle, but A-Rod talked his way in. Then he homered twice in an eight-run seventh inning to lead New York over Seattle 10-2 Wednesday night and help the Yankees open a three-game lead over the Mariners in the AL wild-card race.

Rodriguez arrived at Yankee Stadium limping following a collision with Seattle third baseman Adrian Beltre on Tuesday, and the team's medical staff sent him downtown for an MRI exam. Rodriguez pronounced himself "ready to roll" and was upset that he had to go for the scan.

About an hour before game time, Yankees manager Joe Torre said A-Rod likely would be limited to pinch-hitting duty. Rodriguez then tested his ankle with a few jogs in right field while the Mariners were finishing batting practice. He ran in foul territory toward the dugout, up a runway and into the Yankees' clubhouse.

"I've got to talk to the manager," he said with a determined look, never stopping as he went through the door.

He walked and popped out in his first two plate appearances against Jarrod Washburn (9-13). Then, with the Yankees trailing 2-1 in the seventh, Rodriguez hit a 3-2 fastball over the retired numbers behind the fence in left-center. Pinch-hitter Jorge Posada's bases-loaded walk off Sean Green put the Yankees ahead, and New York padded the margin on Johnny Damon's run-scoring grounder, Melky Cabrera's RBI single and Derek Jeter's two-run double.

Rodriguez then drove a 2-1 pitch from Brandon Morrow into the left-field seats for a two-run homer. He rounded the bases, received congratulations in the dugout and emerged for his second curtain call of the inning.

His first homer tied Mel Ott on the career list, and his second matched Ernie Banks and Eddie Mathews for 17th place at 512. Rodriguez, who leads the majors with 48 homers and 134 RBIs, had the 51st multihomer game of his career and became the first Yankees player to homer twice in an inning since Cliff Johnson on June 30, 1977, at Toronto.

Detroit's Magglio Ordonez and San Francisco's Bengie Molina also accomplished the feat this season.

For those who do not know what a Hot Stove is, it comes from the old days. When people would sit around a hot stove, usually a pot bellied stove, and warm their hands and body up.They would do this in Country stores, Train Stations, you got the idea, It would be the dead of winter, and the men would pass the time by talking baseball, similar to questions we ask today. Hence: Baseball Hot Stove.

Is he that good from what i hear around here?

Is his career off to a start just like francisco rodriguez?

He'll be like the 7th and 8th inning guy for a dynamite closer (troy percival Angels, rivera, Yanks)

He has starter's "stuff" and can handle the pressure be the future closer as well if the yanks put him in the bullpen...

Who was it that George Stienbrenner (Yankee Owner) hired and fired in a public news conference in front of all the media?

I remember seeing a clip of it once on TV. Basically George introduced someone as manager and the that person took the stage said how "I am gonna make all these changes" then George ran back up on stage and started yelling saying "I'm in charge here not you." then they argued and George let out his infamous "You're fired" in fron of the press.

I thiink it was like back in the 80s.

Ichiro Suzuki of the Seattle Mariners joined Hall of Famers Wee Willie Keeler (1894-1901) and Wade Boggs (1983-89) as the only players in Major League history to string together seven straight 200-hit seasons. Ichiro is the only player to accomplish the feat in his first seven Major League seasons.
In 2004, Ichiro established all-time ML single-season hit record with 262 hits. Ichiro already collected six straight Gold Glove, was named to seventh consecutive All-Star Game.

He is a candidate to be a future hall of famer. The problem may be his age, 34 next month, because of 9 year work in Japan's league. So, what do you think Ichiro has to achieve in his rest of career to become a hall of famer?
