The Yankees went a long way toward the Wild Card by taking 2 out of 3 from Seattle. Yes, A-Rod will win the MVP in the AL. Hell, they gave it to him 5 years ago in Texas and they finished dead last in the West that year.
If the season ended today, the Yankees would play the Angels in the ALDS. The past is not a sure indication of the future, but the Angels beat them in 2002 and 2005 in the ALDS. The Indians still have 4 left with the Angels and those two teams could shift positions, setting up Angels vs. Red Sox and Yankees vs. Indians. Who knows, we still could have a Red Sox -- Yankees ALCS. Just as long as Aaron F. Boone and Bucky F. Dent (not to mention Justice, Knoblauch and Brosius) are not on the Yankees playoff roster, I think the Red Sox will be all right.

Yes, the bane of the Redsox will be in the playoff, with allot of momentum, and a healthy pitching staff. Maybe even with Joba as a starting pitcher. As for MVP, it's A.Rod, sorry Yankee haters, that's just the way it is. We all know that about 80% of what goes into the MVP is how many HRs a player hits. Hell, Ortiz made an MVP run doing nothing but hitting HRs. With his league leading HRs, his vastly improved defense, and his stolen bases, it's clear A.rod's the man.

Yup the Yankees are gonna make the playfoffs, but im not too sure about them winning the AL East, but i'd rather them win the wild card, and actually play the Angels, because if they can beat them they can hang with any other team in the postseason.. as for the MVP award, just hand it to A-Rod already he had it in the bag a month ago..

Unfortunately, i do believe the Yankees will make the playoffs as a wild card. The Tigers have just been horrid since August while the Mariners are no better the past 2 weeks.
MVP will be Alex Rodriguez.
ARod is just tearing up the ball with his HR and RBIs and keeping a pretty decent average to boot.

If the Yankees make it to the playoffs, A.L East or Wild Card, people will say that A-Rod has carried the team the entire year after an "off year" in 2006. He is a sure candidate to win.

the yankees are going to make it the only thing that's questionable is whether or not they'll get in as a wildcard or as the AL East division champions. A-Rod's taking the MVP hands down.

They'll probably win the wild card, and if they do, A-Rod will be the MVP.
If the Tigers make the playoffs and the Yankees don't, maybe A-Rod will still win it, but Magglio Ordonez will have a good chance.

They can make it to the playoffs if they can substain their wildcard lead over the Mariners. Either Alex Rodriguez or Magglio Ordonez will win the MVP. A-Rod might because of his 48 homers and byond, but Mags might win because of his mindbottling batting average (.353)
