The Cards were 9.5 game out of the playoffs in 2001 at about this same date and were sellers - trading Jason Christiansen. They then made the playoffs.

Despite being a huge Cards fan, I just don't think this team is as good - especially if Carpenter's return is being set back. However, despite recent good play I also do not think either the Cubs or Brewers are invincible.

So what you should do? ANd if you say sell, who do you look to trade and why?

Its funny to me that the braves will build and bring up all these players and when they go to other teams they don't do near as well. furcal, betemit, farnsworth, larouche, dye is an exeption, drew, glavine. I think the braves have the best farm system for growing young talent i.e. francoer, escobar, mccann, salty etc

The Cubs need to solidify the right side and add another slugger to that already potent lineup. He could could bat second or fifth.

who's your Tiger, and why?...also, do you think they can hang on this year? I do. Once they get Zumaya back...if Leeland can keep them focused I think they'll be alright. Now they've got some playoff experience ...I don't think they'll be as nervous...what do you think?

What are the chances Cuban purchases the Cubs and then spends big to get A-Rod? Soriano, A-Rod, D-Lee, Aramis Ramierez! Imagine that lineup!

I just looked through the recent MLB trade rumors, and for the past few weeks it seems that the Dodgers are looking at guys at every position. It's almost certain they are going to make a trade. Who do you think they will end up getting and who would they trade?

For example,
lets say the Yankees and Red Sox were playing a night game that went into extra innings into the 17th inning and Mariano Rivera didn't pitch until the top of the 17th inning. Would it be considered cheating if he was tired and then went down into the clubhouse before he pitches for a cup of coffee, which keeps you awake on caffeine?

People make mistakes. We're all human. We all tend to do what our friends and co'workers do. I think both these guys, Pete and Berry have learned a lesson along with most of their fellow players. Gambling had nothing to do with Pete's accomplishments and I think Berry would have hit his home runs whether or not he was using steroids. It was a bad fad.Pete was'nt the only one betting . What about the guys he was betting. It was a fad. I think the commission has a handle on it now and the message has been sent. If the truth was known, I'll bet some of those commissioners was betting. OOPS there I go doing something wrong. Pete deserves his accomplishments and I'd be very happy to see him put in the Hall of Fame.

I read that Ortiz will be undergoing an MRI soon to check out his sore knee.

According to the Boston Herald, he could get surgery on it.

Any other information you could lend me? I know it's been bothering him for a long time.
