yeah the cubs should! cliff floyd and jacque jones arent reliable players. the cubs would have soriano, griffey, lee, and aramis, which could be the best in the NL if the cubs got griffey

I'm a huge Cubs fan and a fan of Griffey also. I would like to see him in our lineup, but I don't think we absolutely NEED him. With Jim Hendry just making the move to pick up Jason Kendall I doubt he'll make another move any time soon. It is a possibility though. You mentioned solidifying the right side; if I was Hendry I would be looking for a solid young player to put in rightfield. Right now we have Floyd and Jones who are both aging, so we need some youth out there. Getting Griffey would be moving in the wrong direction by staying with a veteran. But, as I said before I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Cubs uniform.

Oh I think the Cubs should go after him, because they have a window of opportunity this year. The Cubs do have other needs, including a legitimate #2 starting pitcher for the post-season, but Griffey is a guy you always inquire about.
However, I can't fathom the Reds trading him. The Reds will look to move Arroyo and Dunn, but to trade Griffey would not go over well with the fans. And for the Reds to trade Griffey to a NL Central rival would also be questionable - the Cubs would really have to make it a can't miss offer.

They should go after him if he's available, the problem is that clubs rarely make deals within their division. I think Griffey has a few more years left in him and I really don't think the Reds will move him to the Cubs unless the Cubs are willing to overpay for him.

Griffey is staying with the Reds... WEEI sports radio in Boston talked to a baseball insider expert from the Cincinnati area and he said that the fans there love him and management would really be hurting itself if they gave him to another team. The marketing there is already tough and with sales down enough as it is, Griffey brings in those fans that are on the fence. If he was gone, all they would have is Adam Dunn (Mr. Strikeout). The sales would plummet and the organization would severely suffer.

Griffey will not go to the Cubs and the Cubs don't need him or his salary. If the Cubs are going to have a chance to make the playoffs they are going to need another starting pitcher.

Cubs need help in the bullpen, fuh sho!!!!
Get Dumpster outta here!!! I'd rather have Kerry Wood throwing with half an arm!!!! While you are at it, get Micheal Worst (Wuertz) AND Will Ohhhh man...another blown opportunity (Ohman) out of here as well. All three are hot garbage!!!! I have never seen so many bad outings in my life. We may still be able to get some fresh produce, wiper blades, and a few packs of skittles for them. Get 'em the hell out....PLEASE!!!!

what the cubs need is pitching and bullpen help
you have enough talent in the outfiled with soriano, pie, pagan, veterans like floyd, jones, derosa and ward
infielders are fine with ramirez, lee, fontenot, theriot
you guys have enough offense
pitching has been the cubs downfall FOREVER
get that fixed first!
and besides Reds won't give up their most prized possession to someone within the same division...the fans won't forgive them if he went on to break some records

Yes, but I don't know if Cincy will trade inside their own division. I personally think he would be perfect for the Angels. Also the Angels have more prospects to trade.
