lets say the Yankees and Red Sox were playing a night game that went into extra innings into the 17th inning and Mariano Rivera didn't pitch until the top of the 17th inning. Would it be considered cheating if he was tired and then went down into the clubhouse before he pitches for a cup of coffee, which keeps you awake on caffeine?

Caffeine is not on the list of (53) banned drugs, it therefore would not be a problem.

No, it wouldn't be illegal. He could actually go have a beer if he wanted. There's no MLB restriction on food/drinks during games (except of course illegal items). Many players drink energy drinks between innings, same effect as coffee i guess.

No it wouldn't be. Apparently you can take anything, legal (like coffee)or illegal(like steroids), and MLB will still look the other way.
