He tore his meniscus in his right knee which is his power leg for when he hits. His numbers have gone down especially power numbers but he's been playing on since last year. He says he has good days and bad days. My opinion is that he won't get the surgery until after the season because he is only a DH and he has said he doesn't want to until the season is over. I think we should trust the guy since it is his knee and he has been playing on a bad knee for more than a year now.

Ortiz has been playing though the pain for a while now. I rather him go on the DL now instead of ending up missing the playoffs. He has done and excellent job this year hitting for average however, his RBI's and HR's being lower are probably a result of the injury.

I think his sore knee is what's been making him play lousy so I think he should get the surgery even if he's gone for awhile so there for when he comes back he'll start hitting 50 home runs a season again.

torn meniscus in his leg. suffered the injury last year. it is bothering him but he won't be having surgery until the end of the season. He doesn't want to sit out the remainder of the year. He wants to help the Red Socks win another title.

yup.. that's it.. he's had it most of the season...
he should get an eye exam while he's at the doctors... cause he sits on too many close ones that he used to crank or foul off... Jim Rice the same thing happened to Jim Rice... who should be in the hall.
The Red Sox are starting to look like last year's team... no catalyst for the offense... the strand runners like its their job to do so... at least Lugo is hitting now.

He has a torn meniscus (which is cartilage) and he'll more than likely get surgery in the off season.

Maybe Joe Torre finally got sick of losing to the SOB and ordered someone to hit him with a pitch.

From what I've heard, he's been playin on it for a while. That would explain alot about his drop off in production. I've got my ear to noise for sure. on this.
