Please help me decide on which position i should play for baseball . I am 13 years old , 5'6 and i weigh 124 pounds. I am fast , i got an arm i could throw the ball far and pretty accuratly. I could get on base often with singles and since im fast i turn singles into doubles but im not a homerun hitter. Please help on what position to play.

ok... just by what you said I'd say OUTFIELD. I smell lead off with your statement "singles into doubles". If you have an accurate arm, look at shortstop.. You sound kinda like an Ichiro. Not many homeruns but high on base percentage. One thing I would do, if I'm going to be an outfielder is Shag flies. I loved doing that, but, do it with a purpose... Shag the fly and then throw to a base. Let someone call it when the ball is hit. Let little brother be the runner. That's how you can get more accurate and see where you are. Hit some Gappers. Track some balls. Front, back, etc. that's where you'll get your ideas. Shortstop. Fielding and throwing. You dont' see many SS with alot of homeruns. Practice the "throw from the hole" to first. If you can do that with accuracy, you'll find a home

Basically you can play anywhere you want you are still 13. The coaches are the ones who are going to decide what position you are based on where you fit for them. But since you are fast and have a good arm I would say probably the outfield just because you didn't say how good your glove is. If you have a great glove shortstop or even third or second. You don't seem tall enough for first and you can't just pick up a position like catcher just because you feel like it. Jump in the bullpen and see if you can pitch. But if you are left handed I'm sorry you are probably stuck in the outfield or first. But coaches LOVE left handed pitchers I would stick to that
I'm playing in college right now and I have switched positions once every 2 years. And its because I'm fast have a good glove and have a good arm. Not the best on defense but I can hit.

At age 13 you can still grow quite a bit. I think that you should try to be versatile and play as many positions as you can. A strong throwing arm is helpful everywhere, but when you combine it with speed it is most helpful at shortstop and centerfield.

By playing everywhere you will get a reputation as a multi-skilled player that is coachable and thinks of the team first.
That reputation will help you stand out from other players when you tryout for teams in the future.

Don't worry about not being a homerun hitter; as you get older you will naturally become stronger. Extra base power will come. Just get on base now and makegood things happen for your team. Good Luck!

i asked a question like this expect i am a girl and i am 5'5 and 1/2 and 14, run track so i am fast too, but weigh 132 pounds and a lot of people said i should play second base in softball, but i don't have a super great arm, i have an average guys arm which is like a good arm for a girl, but since you have a good arm i would say shortstop, and defintly lead off man, like Jimmy Rollins of the Phillies good luck!

dude this is a lame question. which position do u like better? 5'6 is tall i think for 13, but u could play like outfield if ur good at tracking down fly balls and u say u have a good arm? or u could play infield somewhere if ur good at fielding ground balls and such. hell u could even try catcher. whith what u sya u are the possibilies are endless. There are players at every position that are fast and not home run hitters.

since you sound like a pretty skinny guy, i'll say either shortstop or second base. If you can develop more power and get stronger, than third base could also be in your sights.

you sound like a center fielder or a shortstop. most center fielders and shortstops are fast with good arms in the field. when they hit they usually don't have too much power and they get on base a lot. good luck!!

If you're fast, with a strong and accurate arm, center field sounds like the place for you.

Well, that is actually up to your coach, but sounds like if you are fast and can throw, outfield would be best for you.
