I was just at a triple-A ball game (Tucson vs. Tacoma). With the score tied in the bottom of the tenth, Tucson loaded the bases with none out. The Tucson batter hit a long fly to left center, which hit the warning track and bounced over the fence, and the winning run scored.

I know that if the ball stays in the park, it counts as a single (no matter how far it's hit), ending the game with a score of 6-5, while if it goes over the fence, it's a homer, ending the game with a score of 9-5. But bouncing over, it seems to me, is a ground rule double, which should make it automatically 7-5, with 2 RBI for the hitter. However, it was scored a single, with a final score of 6-5.

So what's the correct ruling? Is this addressed in the official rules?

They are relocating to a new stadium in Fremont. I've heard "Silicon Valley Athletics" and "San Jose Athletics", although the name will have "at Fremont" at the end, like the "Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim".

This way you allow the studs(starting pitchers) pitch til" the 8th Inn. or complete game. Many times Managers will pull a pitcher, and sub him for a PH.I,think a Blue-Collar relief pitcher belongs in the minors. What do U Yahoo freaks think?..ha ha..=)

I t's rare. But,it sometimes happens when one team leads an oponent by big scores, already used many pitchers, in a late inning.
It's his part time job.I remember Jose Canseco and Wade Boggs once did pitch on a mound against oponents, hitters.

So,who is the last potision player to become a pitcher?
I hope you can tell me when. Is it last year?

steroids? I mean not even McGwire, Sammy, Palmeiro and even Giambi are hated so much. So why is all the hate so heavily concentrated on Barry Bonds? I don't understand. Please explain this to me. Thanks

We all have witnessed our favorite record breaking moment (there are many for sure) but even 'The Babe's 714 still stays fossilized in our minds. Could the Barry Bond 'moment' mean more to all of us than just a sporting record? Where will you be?...Your comment/debate all welcomed!

Garrett Adkins, Chase Utley, Eric Byrnes, Troy Glaus, Eric Karros, Jeff Conine, Tood Zeile, Chris Chambliss, and oh yes Jackie Robinson as well as fifty other players came from the UCLA Bruins baseball program to MLB. Can you give me the name of any other college that can match the Bruins in talent.

Since JD hasn't been producing, should Francona move him down to the 8 spot for a few games? Youkilis could hit 5th and Crisp could hit 2nd. In fact, Crisp's best year (2005) came when he was hitting 2nd - .300 with 16 homers.
