Roger Clemens or Greg Maddux in their primes?

It depends on what you mean by Primes...are we talking their prime years? Or best seasons? I'm going to assume you mean prime years and I go with years 26-30.

I went and looked up thier stats for those years (26-30) and heres what I came up with..

9 inning game average
Clemens Rounded off would look like
9 IP, 8 H, 3 BB, 8 K's (ERA was 2.82, WHIP was 1.13)
(total numbers are 7.59 H, 2.58 BB, and 7.92 K's)

Maddux rounded off...
9 IP, 7 H, 2 BB, 7 K's (ERA was 2.10, WHIP was .956!
Total numbers are 7.09 H, 1.52 BB, 6.74 K)

So Maddux was almost Clemens equal when it came to striking out hitters (-1.18 p/9) while giving up less hits and walks (Hits alowed -0.50 p/9 and walks allowed -1.06 p/9)

(I don't like using wins and losses as a beramiter of who is a better pitcher but here are their records Clemens 85-52 and Maddux 90-40)

You do have to take into acount that Maddux pitched in the N.L. while Clemens had to face DH's in the A.L. but I don't feel like looking up the league averages for pitcher in those years just to show you that Clemens is getting shorted in my stats by a little.

I'm guessing most will say Clemens but I would take Maddux. Every one falls in love with "stuff" and Clemens deffently had better stuff then Maddux but Maddux was a better "PITCHER".

Oooh, tough one. Maddux seemed never to have those one or two flameout games that Clemens would put up each season, even at his best. Full season, Maddux, though it's painfully close. One game, Rocket.

I would much rather have Maddux on my team, he is just a great person. I would pitch Clemens, though
