Because Steroids were most popular during those years. Plus he got injured a lot.

This is too easy...... I think I'll pick the defense to give myself a challenge..
Clearly his biggest home run output was in 2001. No other years seem to compare. Although in 2000 he did hit 49. Very close.. And kinda weird that teams would still give him better pitches the following year to break the record. But hitting over 40 home runs 8 seasons obviously will cause teams to intentionally walk you.. Or hit you or unintentionally intentionally walk you (that means, we'll pitch to you but we wont make it obvious that we're gonna walk you). There is a reason that he is the all time walks leader. Whether you like it or not, if the teams that faced him, pitched to him legitimately he would have had plenty of 50 + home run seasons. That should count the 663 times he was intentionally walked and never given a chance, the 104 times he was HBP and 2000 + times he was walked maybe unintentional intentional? I'm sure he could have hit the few extra home runs to string together plenty of 50+ HR seasons.....
Geez, I hate to defend this guy..... But a good hitter is a good hitter... I personally believe he is a liar and did juice... But the numbers don't lie..... Count the walks HBP's and you be the judge...

that's hog wash. it as nothin to do wih steriods. and i'm sorry to try and down play these other peoples speculations but that's just whre i stand on the subject.
the great henry aaron never hit 50 or more homers in a single season either. it's something amazing to hit that many long balls actually. though some players are doing it that doesn't mean it is at all easy.
but to answer your question....bonds is a bit of a patient hitter an draws walks while not having big offensive supporting cast. all the hitters that hit around mr. bonds will have greater success due to the big man but it doesn't leave pitchers forced to give bonds something to hit. you can argue that the examples of mcgwire and sosa is that of not having a supporting cast of great offensive threats but once again it's something that the majority of players can't and don't do and that's it 50 plus homers. certainly not on a consistant bases it doesn't happen very much at all. infact...mcgwire and sosa are the only players in my memory that at a certain point in their career would even come close to hitting 50 plus consistantly....a rod did it two years straight but never again...

Umm....Hank Aaron didn't even do it once. It doesn't take great single season totals to set the career record, its more about hitting them consistently over a long career. Bonds has had power throughout his career and had one year where he went crazy. Whether this was due to steroids or not (I think it was) its hard for any player to get to 50. He would of done it more in the seasons after he set the record but the opposition didn't let him. They took the bat out of his hands too many times for him to have another opportunity to hit over 50.

HA, when I saw Bond, I immediately thought of you know, Bond, James Bond....
Oh, Bond the bball player? He's an awesome athlete. I personally think it's b/c the other guys are on those growth hormones and getting bigger and stronger by artificial means. And it's just a sign of the times. Great bball hitters from the 60s, 70s, and more didn't hit as many homers either...
I like bball.... don't play it but I like the sport.

First of all, the CURRENT Home Run King, Hank Aaron, NEVER hit more than 50 homers in a season. In fact his career high in any one season is 47. It speaks to the longevity of both players to be able to hit so many HR's over such a long period of time.
However, the GREATEST Home Run Hitter is clearly Babe Ruth. He hit 714 HR in 8399 AB (1 HR every 11.76 AB). Hank hit 755 HR in 12,364 AB (1 HR every 16.37 AB) and coming into the 2007 season, Barry had hit 734 HR in 9507 AB (1 HR every 12.95 AB).

He always had good endurance as a player, but it was not until Sosa, and McGuire went toe to toe that I guess he really started juicing up and was able to generate bat speed and better lift. He always had the contact with the ball but I personally think that he lacked the lift and the bat speed.

amazing career? yeah, amazing that his head is twice the size it used to be. amazing that his trainer, Gregg Anderson, is still going in and out of jail because he's saving Barry's butt. amazing that barry's girlfriend, not wife, but girlfriend is probably the source behind the biggest fake in baseball. amazing because people are actally rooting for this phony to be the home run champ. ".......i'm tired guys, im tired of all this...." remember the Fake barry saying that to reporters. Yeah, barry the fake bonds, were are so tired of you. so hit your HRs, cause if you didnt noticed, A-Rod has about twice as many HRs barry had at his age.
simply, because he's a fake. read Game of Shadows, you'll love hating him, its a lot more fun than liking him.

That just shows you that he's had a great consistent career and that he's not all about hitting home runs like Mark "The overrated, one dimensional, .263 hitting, measly 1600 career hits" McGwire.
