Sports - 8 September 2007

Im looking to buy an authentic football jersey in the next few days. I want one that looks good, can be worn on a regular basis, and is of a good player. Right now I have the list narrowed down to Urlacher, Leinart, Brees,Brady Quinn. I want one that hasnt become too trendy already. Every other jersey you see out there is over played. If you can suggest any other player that I may have left out, or forgotten, that would be awesome. Thanks for your help.

Use to when they showed the rpm guages and you could hear the engines run you could tell if the cars had a strong engine by the way it sounded. Also you could tell if the engines were about to blow by the way they sounded. Since the change in tv coverage it's been hard to tell exactly how well the engines are running during the race.

With Michigan getting beat by App. State and Oregon (both team that are excellent teams by the way) , Notre Dame getting beat by Geogia Tech and Penn. State (same as the last) , and the fact that neither team hasn't beat there rival in awile (or even to go as far as had i signature bowl game win) , can you see the losers coach surviving another year with there prospective team?

I'm trying out for golf next year when I'm a junior. I'm a sophomore right now and I shoot around 85 on a par 72 course. My best score is 80 and on really bad days I shoot 90. I can drive the ball consistently around 280-290 and can hit greens in regulations with ease. My biggest problem is putting and chipping. I three-putt alot...

If I do make it, will I "excel" in the sport???

A reporter said reason Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s engines keep blowing up at end of races , because of way he drives them. I can't understand that, because I thought all Nascar drivers drive them full throttle most of the time. Also, being him leaving at end of season kind of coincidental that it been happening so often. Any feedback on this matter greatly appreciated.

Brian Cashman is trying to play hardball, saying he'll let A-Rod walk if he opts out of his contract after this season. But really... come on. This guy is arguably the greatest player the game has seen in the last 20 years, and I believe he will eventually break Bonds' HR record. Do they really want him to hit that record-breaking home run in Angel Stadium, or Wrigley Field, or - worst of all - Fenway Park?

He has had more engine or equipment failures as DEI's #1 car since his announcement to leave than in history. Sabotage or coincidence ? This has been somewhat true for boxing and other contact sports for a long while that if a fighter who is a heavy favorite(Fan favorite, Vegas Favorite, hometown favorite) is somewhat behind in early rounds comes out and has a decent final round the decision often goes to them. It really is a shame that this type of thing goes on, but I have lost count of how many fights seem to follow this script over the years in all contact sports. As a fan would it be refreshing if UFC would just come out and admit this? Just say hey even if you are losing the fight by a decent margin and you have a good final showing you win? It would certainly be more accurate to what occurs very often in the fighting world. Or should the fight world continue to labor under the delusions that all rounds are weighted equally?

He was telling us about the intense look in Kevin Harvick's eyes during the last few laps that clinched the chase for him. What a moron ! Does he have special X-ray vision ?
