Brian Cashman is trying to play hardball, saying he'll let A-Rod walk if he opts out of his contract after this season. But really... come on. This guy is arguably the greatest player the game has seen in the last 20 years, and I believe he will eventually break Bonds' HR record. Do they really want him to hit that record-breaking home run in Angel Stadium, or Wrigley Field, or - worst of all - Fenway Park?

AL East Champs, you sound like a typical whiny Boston sports fan... you're just bitter because he went to the Yankees instead of your Sox. Every professional athlete wants to get paid, but you don't amass 515 home runs by age 32 if money is your sole motivation.

Seriously,
since the Yankees have like the highest pay roll ever to exsist, and have being doing well lately (since he wants to win a WS ring) there's hardly any chance.

Also, he gets along well with his teammates in the Bronx.
Robinson Cano + Melky Cabrera especially.
He likes the atmosphere in the club house.

And chances are-not matter what Cashman says- they'll go after him again.

Like many before me said he's AMAZING.
Another two homeruns in tonight's game, almost 3.

The way he's going he'll break the Bonds record-with out steroids most likely-.

So I doubt Arods going anywhere.
I hope that too.

:]

Don't believe the hype. He will remain a Yankee for a long time, likely the rest of his career. Of course it is possible he could leave, but I don't fall into the trap of A-Rod wanting to leave and the so called experts saying that he will opt out of his contract. With all the money the Yanks have, do you really think they would not give up $30 million a year for the best hitter in the game? Besides, $30 million is pocket change for the Yankees. It's ironic and only fitting that the name of the Yankees general manager is Brian CASHman.
When the day comes when it is announced that A-Rod has signed a $200 million dollar contract extension with the Yankees, I will not be the least bit surprised.

I think that A-Rod will stay a Yankee. However, if he wants to leave because the Yankees don't want to give him $30 million a year, then let him leave. I was a Yankee fan before A-Rod came here, and I will be a fan no matter what. Don't get me wrong, he is a great player, and I want him to stay here, but not for $30 million a year. Nobody is worth that much. Other than that, what team would be insane enough to offer A-Rod $30 million a year? As far as the high expectations from the fans, he has to deal with it as long as he is a Yankee. He is currently making $25 million a year, soon to be $30M, and he can't handle New York? You have got to be kidding me. I don't feel sorry for him. If he thinks he is worth $30 million a year, then he has to deal with the Yankee fans expectations. Look, I think he is a great player, and I would like for him to stay here. However, if he wants to leave for $30 million, then good luck to finding a team that will pay him that much. I will always be a Yankee fan. I don't care who is playing 3rd.

That just shows u how this game is not based on love of the game but love of the almighty $. In theory in fantasy land yeah it would be nice if A-Rod stayed in pinstripes and break records in the new Yankee Stadium. But get real people, if anything, thank your media people in NY. Why should he stay. The media does not let up. Go ahead A-Rod take the money and run. I don't blame u.

The Yankees are dumb. They have mistreated him for the last 3 seasons. There fans and media have booed him, humiliated him for these last 3 seasons while he has put up All Star numbers. A-Rod will go some where else where he wont have to deal with that New York media and the huge expectations of their fans.

If rodriguez wants out of NY because he's a baby who can't handle the media, then there's nothing cashman or steinbrenner can do to keep him. There's only so much money you can throw around...

Maybe, he'll get some sort of stock option to add to his portfolio...

I don't see him leaving the Yankees but if he does I would like him to sign with the Angels.

If there's someone INSANE enough to pay A Rod 30 million dollar, they can have him. For 30 million, the Yankees can get some young pitchers and a young awesome third baseman from the Marlins called, "Miguel Cabrera"!!!!!

I doubt it. I think their fans would get even crazier if they let a player like that go, even if he is a jerk. Besides, who else can afford him? I don't see him taking a pay cut anytime soon.
