What exactly does it mean when they say a certain player has "points to defend?" Roger Federer, who lost twice recently, also lost 1,000 ranking points. Nadal, who won Indian Wells and got to the Quarters in Miami gained around 400 points. I am confused how this works

I realize that Judo requires learning hundreds of throws but in terms of actual competition how many throws should a judo player focus on? I know for each throw you have in your regular bag of tricks there is countless variations on that same throw. So how many throws to focus on? 5 or 6, 10, 3, 25?
Also what types of throws do most olympic caliber judo players master?

We are having a debate at work. If someone tied Joe Dimaggio, and in the next game he played in, the pitched walked him 4 times in a row, would the streak end? I say no, because he did not have an official at bat. My co-worker argues that the hit streak involved number of games in a row, so it would. For that matter, would sac bunts and sac flies count. Say the batter goes 0 for 2 with 2 walks and 2 sac flies, would it end? Help!
