I saw on ESPN today that Quinn has 5 more touchdown passes and about 70 more yards per game passing than Troy Smith. Yet you hear most people still saying Smith is the front runner. I think it's a race thing, "they dont' want to seem unfair." The only thing Smith has going for him is the race agenda of the media and the fact that he has a better supporting cast making him look good. If Smith didn't have Ginn and Gonzalez to throw to and that massive offensive line he'd be nothing. Quinn doesn't have as much talent surrounding him thanks to Willingham, but he still performs well. I guarantee, if Notre Dame had anywhere near the defense that Ohio State has they'd be in the BCS Championship Game. Quinn has Szamardzija and McKnight, a good offensive line, and a decent running back, all that's missing is the defense. Zbikowski, number 18 (can't remember his name), and Landry are good on defense for the Irish, but they really have no one else to write home about. Give Weis 2 or 3 more years
