it seems like in everyone presseason polls for the last couple of years these two teams especially the Panthers are considered an ELite team, and year after year they disappoint. the panthers to me only have to guys, one on offense and one on defense, which is Smith and Peppers. it takes more than just one or two players to win a game. havent we learned anything from the Pats or the Spurs.its a team effort. sure maybe they can win a few games against mediocre teams and not mentioning that those two players i named have to preform great every week in and week out for them to even have a chance.

The Panthers always look to have a tight D and they make some offseason moves to beef up their offense, but they don't have a solid running game. The Dolphins fooled people last year because the last half of their season was a wimpy schedule, so their streak meant little.

1...the panthers were supposed to be good and are good. they've had the lead going into the 4th quarter in their last 11 games, bad teams don't do that. panthers are going to make the playoffs. oh and not to mention they only made it to the NFC championship game last year. hmm.. i can't figure out why they were predicted to do so good....

2...dolphins were picked to win the AFC and i still think they have the talent to be that kind of team even tho it's too late in the season. harrington and culpepper both struggled initially becoming familiar with a new offense, but dolphins come on strong every year and are going to just miss the playoffs once again.

3...it's pretty easy to critique preseason predictions this late in the season. who did you want them to rank higher than the panthers and the dolphins, the saints? if i looked at preseason rankings and saw the saints anywhere near either of those teams this year i would have thought whoever came up with that is absolutely retarded. everybody is johnny unitas on monday morning, or in this case in week 13 of the season. go ahead and make your predictions for next year and then i'll question why u didn't predict everything right...dumbass.

if i were u i wouldn't worry about hatin on good teams. why don't you ask a good question like why in the hell were the most overrated team to ever win a superbowl(steelers) predicted to be so good with all of the horrible players they have on their team?

This is what we call paper champs. You look good on paper and fail to produce. If you look at Miami right now their D is playing good football If they only had the O to help them out a little bit they could've made it to the SB. Harrington under center? and they're only 2 games under .500? That's pretty good. I don't agree that the Panthers have only two good players. Keyshawn is a good possession receiver and with Smith, they should have a pretty good one two punch. Deangelo is so explosive and Foster, when health has shown glimpses of greatness. He just can't keep it consistent. On D you got Ruckers, Jenkins, Peppers. Those three helped Car go to the SB the first time. Too bad from Car Delhomme isn't living up to the hype. I think that's why they're 6-6 instead of 10-2. He's trying to force things and it showed against Phi.

Miami was predicted to do good this season because of the money they went out and spent on things they needed to adress. I figured Culpepper and Chambers would be a lethal combo, but we havent gotten to see much of that.

For the Panthers, they do have an overall good team they just cant finish games. They have lost 5 games after leading in the fourth quarter. If they were to hold on to those leads the Panthers could very easily have been 11-1 at this juncture.

I will tell you why. It's because the sports writers and newscasters are a bunch of idiots. They should just shut the hell up and call the freaking game. Each one of them has their favorite teams just like we do. That is all they talk about. I am sick of what they think and who they say is best. Hell they are crowning Tony Romo the next Joe Montana and he hasn't even played a full season yet. He may be another one hit wonder. Remember Kurt Warner? If you listen to the predictions every year you will lose you mind man. Now I'm hungry and I need more papers. LOL

I can't explain the Panthers, but as a Bills fan, I know a good deal about the 'Phish, and sadly, more about their OC:( Here're some important points...
1)DC was NEVER a good QB. He just threw the ball to Moss and Moss is the sort who can catch anything near him if he wants to, inflating his stats. However, one need only refer to his lack of success in the postseason and tendency to choke in tight games. He's just dumb.
2)DC rushed back from his injury, and in addition to being dumb, he was also rendered to having Bledsoe-like mobility by his knee not being ready.
3)Their offensive line is composed mainly of other team's cast-offs, and teams will spend a good deal of money to retain good linemen. They're learning the hard way that FA linemen are usually FAs because they aren't good.
4)Their OC is Mike Mularkey, and Mike Mularkey has no confidence in his players. He just doesn't believe in them....ever. He also likes to show off how smart he is, so he runs stuff like half-back option passes and draws in key situations when he should really be sticking to what his team does best.(In the case of the Carp, I'd pound the ball to Ronnie Brown or toss it up to McWifebeater or Chambers in a key situation.)
5)Their strong finish last year created a mirage. I know what it looks like, my Bills fooled practically everyone in the same way two years ago. They beat up on bad teams, and thenlost Pothead Williams and dumped Frerotte, despite the fact he seemed to be doing OK.
6)Nick Saban isn't as smart as people gave him credit for.
7)They lost both coordinators and replaced them poorly(IMO).
8)Their defense just keeps getting older and they have no one to replace them with...

the dolphins we not considered to be good this preseason, people just thought they had a chance since culpepper was in town...but they stink and might not even win two more games this season because of their tough remaining schedule...and i dont understand about the panthers being considered good every year either because they always fall apart or are inconsistant like this season...i guess its cause they made it to the super bowl a few years ago...

It is beyond me! The Dolphins have not made it to the Super Bowl in over 20 years an the Panthers made it once. Go figure..

People take to much with them from preseason games. Both of those teams certainly showed potential as always but, they can't quite stay consistant enough.

Both of those teams are about their star power. Smith & Peppers in Carolina and the old dudes on defense in Miami....Taylor and Thomas.
