I saw on ESPN today that Quinn has 5 more touchdown passes and about 70 more yards per game passing than Troy Smith. Yet you hear most people still saying Smith is the front runner. I think it's a race thing, "they dont' want to seem unfair." The only thing Smith has going for him is the race agenda of the media and the fact that he has a better supporting cast making him look good. If Smith didn't have Ginn and Gonzalez to throw to and that massive offensive line he'd be nothing. Quinn doesn't have as much talent surrounding him thanks to Willingham, but he still performs well. I guarantee, if Notre Dame had anywhere near the defense that Ohio State has they'd be in the BCS Championship Game. Quinn has Szamardzija and McKnight, a good offensive line, and a decent running back, all that's missing is the defense. Zbikowski, number 18 (can't remember his name), and Landry are good on defense for the Irish, but they really have no one else to write home about. Give Weis 2 or 3 more years

Ohio State only had two difficult games the rest of the schedule was a cake-walk, so don't say the strength of schedule went in Smith's favor.

GA Tech wasn't a big game, and Quinn was the whole reason they won against GA Tech as well, I was there. He could have performed better in the USC and the Michigan game, but so could the rest of the team. He can't do anything about dropped passes thrown to McKnight against USC and Szamardzija dropping passes against Michigan.

Lester, the position is QB, not RB. To KP in Seattle, race is an issue, if you haven't recognized the media trying at all costs not to appear racist and blatantly rooting for black QB's over white QB's to try not to appear racist you're naive, ignorant to how the world works, and blind as a bat.

Michael Vick could hurt you with his arm and his legs too, and you see what kind of joke he is in the NFL don't you? He's nothing more than an extra tailback.

Troy smith will porbably win the heisman, but when they get to the nfl troy smith won't be able to get away with some of the stuff hes been getting away with and quinn will be a good name in the nfl

It has nothing to do with racism. It the fact that Smith has the best team in the nation. Quinn only threw 6 or 7 touchdowns in the big games against USC, Michigan, and Georgia Tech. You can't say Quinn doesn't have the talent around him, he has Samardzija and McKnight as well as a solid line, not the best, but solid. His coach is also a better offensive minded coach. With the year he had last year, there is no reason why Quinn couldn't have done much better this year, he just couldn't get it done in the 3 games that mattered the most, both statistically and at a competition level.

Notre Dame hasn't played anyone this year except Michigan and USC. Two hard games just like the Buckeyes. Yet the buckeyes had to face two teams ranked number 2. The buckeyes came out on top of both while ND lost both of their big games. Brady Quinn makes too many mistakes. He thinks he can force a ball and it gets picked off. He believes his power will make his receivers catch it better. Smith is a smarter QB. He knows when not to throw the ball he scrambles for a gain. The only reason Quinn has more TD's and passing yards is because Ohio State has a better running game than ND and doesn't have to depend on passing as much. Smith is the clear choice he is better and smarter and with a better team. The race card does not have anything to do with deciding the winner. Think about the past winners Bush, Lienart, Palmer. It doesn't matter what you are it is based on your performance on the field. If the better player is white they give it to him. If they are black they give it to him. It doesn't matter. The race comment was ignorant.

Unless Ohio State goes down in defeat against florida, I think Troy Smith may have the Heisman locked up. The Heisman is as much about winning and popularity as anything else. If Florida wins, and Notre Dame wins, Brady Quinn has a legitimate chance at the Heisman.

i with you man i definitely thing that Quinn should win it although i thought he should have taken it home last year as well i mean 35 school records at a school which has put out some hall of fame QBs and what a 7-1 touchdown to INT ratio where 3 of his five came in one game i definitely think he deserves it but like the whole country says Smith will walk away with it cause he is the leader on the #1 school in the country

You're basically right. The Irish defense stinks. All things being equal, Quinn is better than Smith, and the NFL will prove it. And does anyone out there understand that schedules are done years in advance, so you never know whether they'll be a powerhouse or a powderpuff (okay I'll concede the service academies are always powderpuff, or at least they should be).

Quinn is not near the player Smith is. Smith can hurt you with his arm and legs. I have no problem with Smith getting the prize, with that said yes Quinn is a solid QB but if he was not ND would he be as good as he is and would he still get the all the hype he does?

sry im going to have to disagree with you, but a great QB wins games and thats exactly what Troy Smith did. Maybe he did throw for less yards and touchdowns then Quinn, but tell me who has more rushing yards and touchdowns. This heisman has smith all over it and he deserves all the credit.

You are right on all counts. But we will let Smith have his Heisman. We know our boy Quinn will have a much more successful pro career!
By the way # 18 is Chinedum Ndukwe. Fun name to say!
