My wife received a Holy Card with a picture of Jesus crucified, but on the back of the card there was the "Sinner's Prayer." It also said in brackets "(say this prayer when you feel it completely in your hear)."
Is this considered a Catholic prayer? I was thinking some Baptist might have printed in as a way to trick someone into being saved, lol.

I grew up Christian and am trying to find Jesus and am praying for guidance. The bible is positive, but somehow Christian theology seems wrong on many biblical issues. So many Christians & Muslims talk like bigoted robots ("accept my belief or die/be forsaken by God!"). Somehow all roads are pointing me to Judaism. So to learn more:

1) Why does Judaism not condemn others to eternal torture for the 'unforgiveable' sin of refusing to submit to your beliefs? Christianity & Islam do.
2) Are several incarnations of the same God, like God as man, really polytheism?
3) Why does the Talmud respect conflicting views of biblical versus? In Christianity & Islam you're just condemned as a heretic or a "not true" believer.
4) If Jews are God's chosen people, why are you less than 1% of the world population? Doesn't God want everyone to know Him? Relates to the Q of why does God allow you to keep getting persecuted?
5) Are images of God- not worshipped, just for reverence- idolatry?

I am a Catholic who has gone to Catholic school his whole life and always thought that the Crusades were wars to defend the faith from invasion by Islam. This year, I'm taking AP World and according to my highly liberal teacher and Peter N. Stearns' "Experiencing World Civilizations" the Crusades were wars of Christian expansion and personal gain on the part of the pope. What is the truth?

I ask because most Christians believe we should respect other religions - so I'm puzzled.

He told The Lord "I will come at them from every side"
And The Lord said, "Thats fine, but you will not be able to harm my most steadfast of believers. Those you cannot touch"
Who are you waiting for then.. another product to fail until you finally realize that you get what you pay for?

What you win is satisfaction to learn from that mistake and never do it again! InshAllah. That is better than any reward in silver and gold! The reward is knowledge. Pass it on! Salam

Why didn't God punish just Adam and Eve for eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil INSTEAD of everyone?
Where would the world be if he had.

I was given this life by some higher power - Allah or karma or whatever.

I'm somehow supposed to be thankful. But the big joke was that I was made short.

I have to be punished for this stigma I had no role in....something that was forced on me. Pretty girls are attracted to me, but since my crime is being short they wont date me inspite of my nice looks as they say.

And yet I'm supposed to thank this higher power for this? What a joke of a life.

I recently asked a question and included a quote from a response that Renee gave to another one of my questions. This latest question upset many people who answered, which was not my intention. I have deleted it, and I would now like to apologize to anyone who may have been offended, and especially to Renee for using her quote in conjunction with the question. I have since discovered that I misunderstood and perhaps implied some malice to her statement. She politely corrected my error, and to her I am thankful.

Would you treat them any differently? What if they told you because they trusted you with every fiber of their being to be understanding, tolerant, and respectful? Would you be?

Please explain your reasoning.

I know you're going to say that he aimed for the mother, but still, it was a monstrous act. He saw the child in the car, he made the decision to fire the gun and possibly traumatize the child for life by witnessing the murder of her mother, but he still chose to do this. Am I the only one who would like to hang this guy by his "parts that matter"? I also know that you're going to say that because I'm a Muslim, I have no feelings and blah blah blah. Well guess what? I donate blood (mine is a rare type and needed, AB+) I am on a list for kidney donation in the hopes of saving just one life. And anytime I hear of a child of any race or religion being harmed, it makes my blood boil and I want to give the victimizers what they deserve.

What would you do if you were in this situation?

Tomorrow is my last final. I have studied and studied and I am ready. Now, I just need to settle my nerves a bit.

I ask that you pray for me and with me. Pray that I succeed and give me strength so that I can continue on and help others in the future.

Prayer is a wonderful gift. I accept yours with a lot of joy.

2 Corinthians 13:5

"Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?"

Have you taken the 'test'? Do you know if you truly have faith? The Bible teaches us that the heart is deceitful, so you can't trust your heart and say "I know I'm going to heaven because I believe with all my heart that Jesus died for my sins and God raised him from the dead". That's why it's so crucial to take 'the test'. Judgment day isn't exactly the best time to figure out whether or not you truly have faith.

I found this extremely helpful: http://needanewstart.com/Really_Christian.html

Nobody who hasn't already taken 'the test' is "too good" to take it. How do you know that you believe?

Did you know that Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven?
Isn't heaven a wonderful, peaceful place?
However, the Lord spoke about hell more than heaven because He is concerned about those who have not yet repented. He does not want anyone to go to hell but God's love DOES NOT mean that He will not chastise.

The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is the only parable in the four gospels where Jesus actually used names. Ever wonder why? I think this story was MORE THAN a parable.
In this parable we learn that there is a BIG GAP between hell and heaven so that those in heaven cannot cross over to the hell side and vice-versa. I do NOT need a building to fall on me. The Bible talks about torture, eternal torture for those who die in their sins (unrepented). Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven to WARN us that eternal life with or without God is REAL. So, why not choose to be on God's side?

What are your thoughts?

Why did Jesus talk about hell more than heaven?
