Did you know that Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven?
Isn't heaven a wonderful, peaceful place?
However, the Lord spoke about hell more than heaven because He is concerned about those who have not yet repented. He does not want anyone to go to hell but God's love DOES NOT mean that He will not chastise.

The parable of the rich man and Lazarus is the only parable in the four gospels where Jesus actually used names. Ever wonder why? I think this story was MORE THAN a parable.
In this parable we learn that there is a BIG GAP between hell and heaven so that those in heaven cannot cross over to the hell side and vice-versa. I do NOT need a building to fall on me. The Bible talks about torture, eternal torture for those who die in their sins (unrepented). Jesus spoke more about hell than heaven to WARN us that eternal life with or without God is REAL. So, why not choose to be on God's side?

What are your thoughts?

Why did Jesus talk about hell more than heaven?

First of all that was not a literal talk. At that time no one had went to hell or heaven. Colossians 1:18 he was the first born from the dead that he might be first in all things.
others were resurrected but only to another human life in which they later died as a human. Only Jesus went to heaven.
So Abraham or lazarus was not in heaven. Why would a man go to hell simply because he was rich? Or go to heaven because he was poor?
Jesus was comdeming the pharisees and this was a way to do it. They wore purple and robes and were rich, they dienied anything to the poor people.
If you read up a ways you will see that the Pharisees were listening. They got the point, because it said they wanted to find a way to kill him. But he couldn't outright tell them they were condemed. So he used a story.
Jesus did everything in parables. did a camel go through the eye of a neetle? These were stories not to be taken literally.

That is in Luke 16:14Now the Pharisees who were money lovers were listening to him to all these things and they began to sneer at him.
Luke 16:19 Now a certain man was rich, and he used to deck himself with purple and linen enjoying himself from day to day with magnificence.
Isn't that remarkable that is exactly what the pharisees did, and were?
I picked up on that right away that he was giving them a lecture. I mean what is wrong with being rich?
But a certain begger named Lazarus used to be put at his gate, full of ulcers and desiriing to be filled with the things dropping from his table.
Now would a rich man really allow some sick old begger to sit under his table? Could this actually be literal? NO!
Anyone could see this is not a literal situation.
But the pharisees called the people beggers. The average man was looked down on by them.
also dogs came in and licked his wounds? some rich guy is going to sit down to eat with dogs? which was to them considered unclean animals?
then he was after dieing in the bosom possition with Abraham? closer to Abraham than his 12 tribes of his sons?
When numerous scriptures tell us that Abraham or anyone else was not in heaven. Because Jesus was the first one to go to heaven from this earth. So he could be first in all things.
He said the rich man had good things during his life? Of what they lived to be 45 years old? But the begger bad things. So if we experience a good life we go to hell?
That doesn't make any sense. So the rich man should suffer for an eternity because he had a good life?
Wouldn't that include most Americans?
No where does it say he was a sinner? It was a parable about the Pharisees. He was talking to them but it was hardly a real story. No where does he condem the rich man for being rich? or the poor man for being poor?
So does all street addits who don't work and get sick go to heaven? You are missing the point of the story.

In the same manner that people discuss the bad from the good. The same manner the media reports the bad news more than the good news. Jesus warned us and warned us well. Yet people tend to sway to the bad side of things and this is one reason why He talked about it more than Heaven. In heaven - he also said that he will prepare a room for all of us - we are already assured of our right to be there with him, its just us who should make the first step in getting there. To get there - Jesus also gave us the path to choose.

Amen...
There are 162 references to HELL in the New Testament alone, over 70 of those spoken by Jesus Himself.

" He that believes (the gospel) and is baptized SHALL BE SAVED; he that believes not SHALL BE DAMNED ". - Jesus

"So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, and shall cast them into the furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth". - Jesus (Matt. 13:49)

Jesus called it a literal place of REAL torment.

Uhhh...correction. In the parable of the Rich Man and Lazarus..."heaven" is never mentioned. Jesus speaks of "paradise" - which is NOT heaven.

Various words are used to describe WHAT "paradise" is "Abraham's Bosom", Sheol (the grave), purgatory...whatever...but it was NOT heaven.

He spoke more about Hell to drive home the tragic reality of it.He wanted people to realize what its really going to be like.Everything you said is correct. Once we get to Hell there's no crossing over.God wants us all to be saved. But we all have the free will to choose. Now is the time to Choose The Right!

I'm sure "he" did. "He" knew religion wouldn't hold up against logic, so "he" scared it into your mind.
