It is commonly asked why people (namely atheists) "expect Christians to be perfect". When a person with a massive following and suuport network such as Ted Haggard "allegedly" has a relationship with a male prostitute and also admits to buying meth from the prostitute, he is rightfully berated and people demand he be held accountable for his actions. Instead, he chalks it up to being a born sinner and needing to grow closer to God. Is it too much to ask that a high ranking church member not be involved in a sexual relationships with meth using male prostitutes? Is that what you call "expecting perfection"?

I've been reading today about how we are to be at peace and full of joy as Christians. Well, my question is this - how do you find God's peace & joy when your life is full of suffering? Sure there are good things to focus on too, but how do you get beyond depression when life is just getting you down?

I'm just a teenager girl, 15, that does not go to church, but believes in god, and jesus. I know things about them, but does not know enough like i should. I know like millions of stuff about the world. Atheist, Wicca, Palmistry, Recarnation, Astrology, The Big Bang, Ghosts, Gardian Angels, Spirits, The Dead, Aliens, Sex, Love, Marriage....yeah...a lot of stuff like that.

but, what a girl should do if there is a lot of stuff to believe in. I'm just a curious girl who wants to know the REAL truth about everything.

....sooooo...i had this talk with my uncle. He says the only way to be saved and go to heaven is to be baptizied and accept the lord in your life.

i believe in god, that jesus had died because of our sins, i'm very good, (of course i've have sinned), and...well...i'm not baptized.

he said if you're not baptized, you're just a wondering soul that will not go to the kingdom of the lord.

but some said that you don't have to get baptized in water....etc.

Would they beleive that different religion as devoutly, or would they have grown up knowing it wasn't the right one.even though their parents and that society beleived it?

Ok, so when I asked this question:
"Why are religious people so afraid?", I was told it's not out of fear, but out of love that they worship god.

Then, when I asked this question:
"Is it wrong to force your love on someone who doesn't want it?", I was told NO, that it's called stalking and you can be arrested for it. Furthermore, "If the recipient can't say "no." They're not really being given room to say "yes" either."
Then I asked:

"Is there proof that god actually accepts your love?", and I was told people don't have a direct way to prove god accepts their love....that there's no way to know. Also, " I'd say that there is no "proof" ".

So, if you worship not from fear but love, and giving someone endless love without permission is stalking & illegal, and you have no proof that your god even wants your love (can't say neither "yes" or "no")......should you be arrested? Or at the least, realize that worship gets you through the same life as those that don't?

I've seen it stated quite a few times here and other places that only someone who had been filled with the Holy Spirit or has a true desire to serve God can truly understand the Bible. Atheists and other non-believers simply can't understand it because no one can understand it without God's help.

me and my boyfriend broke up a year ago. i never really got over it, and never learned why he broke up with me. it was VERy out of the blue.

anyway, now, a year later, i keep running into him. despite the fact that we have 700 kids in our grade level, he sits next to me in two classes. (that's almost impossible to happen). i often end up behind his car at stop lights and such. we'll end up getting our names pulled out of a hat for a project. or i'll see his mother at the grocery store.

just weird freak things keep happening that make me run into him.

is there a reason God has put him back in my life? because my ex and i are not really on speaking terms (even though our break up was friendly) and i don't even know how to start.

i do really miss him though. and i keep praying to God to show me how to make it better, because seeing him every day all the time is SO painful.

i'm just not really sure what to do.

did something bad happen in your life, but you found god, went to church, read the bible, etc. and it changed you for the better?

i understand this is part of the religion and its what is taught...
however there is no biblical scripture supporting her being sinless... there is actual scripture supporting she was with sin

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
Rom 3:23

But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.Gal 3:22
other beleif is that you pray that mary will pray for u... he is mediator

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus 1 Tim 2:5

i really dont understand where the beleif began or how anyone can explain this belief... im not anti catholic..

Thomas Henry Huxley coined the term 'agnosticism' to mean the following:

"That it is wrong for a man to say he is certain of the objective truth of a proposition unless he can provide evidence which logically justifies that certainty."

Hence agnosticism is a principle rather than a position. This is quite straightforward - It doesn't mean "God is unknowable" or anything like that, it's just a way of thinking; a method by which we hope to arrive at the right answer, whatever that may be.

So, how did there come to be so much confusion about what agnosticism actually means?

because merely being a theist and knowing about basic bible doctrine doesn't necessarily mean you are actually a "believer" in the biblical sense of the word (although you may be a believer in the sense that you acknowledge God's authority...even demons believe in that way). If you believe as the bible says it means that you trust God enough to let him lead you in life (It's a relationship like between father and son). It's not merely saying God is there and blah blah blah....

Who is the son and who is the mother? And what dose this passage mean? (book of Revelations)

3Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on his heads. 4His tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that he might devour her child the moment it was born. 5She gave birth to a son, a male child, who will rule all the nations with an iron scepter. And her child was snatched up to God and to his throne. 6The woman fled into the desert to a place prepared for her by God, where she might be taken care of for 1,260 days.

I've noticed that when people make fun of a certain religion, they get a lot of answers of people telling them not to mock other religions and just be happy with what religion they are, yet they turn around and start being offensive to Christians and no one cares. As long as we aren't forcing our beliefs on you, why be so hateful?
