Why are christians singled out? Catholics belive many of the same things that christians belive in but they aren't ridculed for it and I have never seen a chirstian on tv being accused of raping a little boy but don't get me wrong im not badmouthing catholics or anything of that nature just trying to make a point so why are Christians so singled out is it public opinion? a sterotype? anythoughts?

Most believers (in religion) believe in the god their parents worship. That's why Hindu parents raise children who usually believe in the Hindu gods. Ditto any other god or belief system you can dream up. Ditto political party we vote for, food we eat, friends we seek, car we drive, level of education etc etc. So much of what we are is imitation of our parents (care-givers), whether we like to admit it or not. Parents want their kids to benefit from their experience and teach them what has worked for them (I know some parents are much less than caring for their kids, but generally this is true).

My question is: why do occasional offspring go off on a tangent and not follow the teachings and examples of their parents? Not just in religion but in other life-style choices.

How do I know if I am a Christian? I never go to church or read the bible, I drink and have other vices. I do believe in christ and I try to live my life by the 10 commandments. In the past, I have meditated and have felt a golden light inside which I felt to be christ. I also feel I have been touched by god several times, once whilst waiting with my mum in a hospital I was watching some sunlight shine through a window and play on a wall, suddenly I felt an otherworldly presence and felt I had been touched by god and was quietly overwhelmed by this experience. Although I feel I live and feel christian values how do I know if I really am a christian?

Disclaimer:If you dont really know about this , please go to another question, i only accept knowledgeable and serious answers, please refrain from preaching , or judging me , i respect your beliefs and i expect the same.

nor either feminine or masculine.just one god, someone once told me neo-wiccans may hold this belief , but i look it up in the net and it still says all wiccans including them ,belief on the god/goddess concept. In my personal view i feel that God cannot be divided. God simply is. The Universe simply is. What is simply is. All our thoughts and concepts divide Is-ness in our minds, and divide our minds from Is-ness.
but thats just me..is any of you wiccans out there that believe on only one god, is it possible to be wiccan and hold this belief at the same time?

That while we are discussing religion and if there is a God or not, virtually every second, someone dies and finds out.

It's one of the biggest questions out there, and people have been arguing about it for thousands of years, yet, even whilst I have written this and you have read it, many, many people have found out for sure.

So that when the bible said he had a child at 180 years of age, or whatever, it would seem normal to us if we understood the calender system in use at the time the bible was written, or the time referred to in the text. Does anyone believe this to be the case, and if so, does the calender have a name and what were the actual lengths of the "years" referred to?

As a typical Christian with no respect to atheists, my mother is SURE that I will become an instant believer when I one day have children of my own. That the 'miracle' of birth could *only* be because of some divine deity.

How do I respond to her showing that her argument is flawed?

Do you ever question your beliefs? I am not trying to be rude but I would like to hear your answers. Do you have upside down stars called starstones in your churches? Why do you have the All seeing eye that is associated with masonry and also satanic symbol?? Why did your book of mormon say that god punished people with dark skin? What kind of rituals go on in the Temple Right? Why is it secret?

In Heaven, these words would have these defintions,

Freedom= To get to do whatever you want and experience whatever you want, including doing and experiencing every thing down to the smallest detail as to what you experienced here on Earth and serve God as much or as little as you want instead of feeling you better because he'll cast you down into Hell if you don't.

Servitude= Where you always serve God all the time and do everything he wants you to do and only do and experience what he wants you to do and experience and you sing praises to Him as long as he wants you to. You can't do whatever you want because all the freedom you had when you were alive is now gone because God robs you of it because you're "in his world now".

Why would God wanna rob you of all your personal freedom you had when you were alive and threaten to send you to Hell if you'd rather do your own thing instead of serve Him all the time?
