Why are christians singled out? Catholics belive many of the same things that christians belive in but they aren't ridculed for it and I have never seen a chirstian on tv being accused of raping a little boy but don't get me wrong im not badmouthing catholics or anything of that nature just trying to make a point so why are Christians so singled out is it public opinion? a sterotype? anythoughts?

Catholics may call themselves christians but they depend more on the pope to cleanse their sins then they do god.

Another one feeling special and persecuted exclusively. That's all in your own mind.

Hey, buddy! Catholics are Christians. As far as not seeing any "Christian" pedophiles on TV, you, clearly, have selective recall. There have been many.

it's not all Christians, whether they're Catholic, Methodist or any other religion that are singled out. it's the ones with the really radical views that seem "weird" because of their views.
if everyone had the same views as everyone else then the world would be very boring.
religion in my view has a lot to answer for as in my view the world would be a lot calmer place without it, as most of the disorder in the world is caused by religion and through religion is greed

1st of all, I don't think u understand what christian means. not just u cuz i hear a lot of ppl say things like "i'm catholic and not christian" or the inverse. Christian is anyone that believes in jesus. So it doesn't matter if u r catholic, luthering, baptist. u r still christian just like a Canadian is a person from Canada and it doesn't matter if u r from Ontario or British colombia.
I think by christians, u mean Protestants. Thats the right term.
2nd, catholics do not believe in pope or anything like that. The protestants said that to make ppl leave the catholic church and move to protestanism. that explains why the full name of catholism is the ROMAN CATHOLICs b'cuz the protestants said that cathlics believe in the pope of ROME.

Now, I'm pretty sure u r wondering who r protestants. a protestant church is any church that broke off the catholic church. by the way, only 3 churches broke off directly from the catholic chruch and they r lautheran, angelicanism, calvinistism. the rest like Adventists, Anabaptist. Charismatic, Congregational, Wesleyan, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Quakerism, Reformed, Restoration movement, Unitarian, Waldensians, Anglican / Episcopalian, Baptist all came later.
3rd, why do r PROTESTANTS singled out? Well, do u live in america which is mostley protestants? if so, the rest is common sense. ppl tend to pick on minorities in every culture.

Catholics are Christians but it is the Protestant Christians who spend so much time in everyone's face attempting to convert, attempting to include their doctrine in law and attempting to point out the egregious sins of everyone but themselves.

If you honestly think no Christian has ever raped or done any other horrid thing, you must live in a fantasy land. The vast majority of US citizens are Christian, do you honestly believe it is the other 10% comitting all the crimes?

Christians single themselves out by saying that everyone is against them. We aren't against you, just the infiltration of our lives and government by your religion.

Catholics ARE Christians.

It's like this logic....

All poodles are dogs - but not all dogs are poodles.

Get it?

All Catholics are Christians - but not all Christians are Catholics.

I don't know what "singling out" you are talking about. The Catholics have been gettinga really bad rap lately due to the child molestations that have taken place in their church.

My experience with people who refer to themselves as Christians - on R&S - has been a mixed bag. Some of them want to follow in the footsteps of Jesus - and be good, loving people. Others want to judge and tell me that my Catholic Mom - who does charity work almost every day of her life - is going to hell because she hasn't accepted Jesus in the "right way" and good works won't get her into heaven.

Namaste!

Jesus said if they hated the master they will hate his servants as well. He warned us we would be. It goes with the territory. I think we rile some people to the heart the way Christ did and not everyone accepts the truth that they are a sinner in need of Jesus's saving power the way we did. Catholics get ridiculed constantly on here. So do Muslims and atheists. We all do. That's just the way it is on here. People are just very passionate when it comes to religion and politics.

Extremist Christians get singled out because they wish to impose their moralities via laws upon a free society.

The most extreme (like Randall Terry) want a theocracy.

Also, I've bashed the rightwing leader of the Catholic League, William Donohue, many times here. He's very extreme himself but represents few Catholics.

many many thoughts, but here is a scripture on that. Jesus called it out 2,000 years ago...

John 15: 18"If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the One who sent me. 22If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin. Now, however, they have no excuse for their sin. 23He who hates me hates my Father as well. 24If I had not done among them what no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. But now they have seen these miracles, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'

yes indeed why is it that the catholic religion can do the most aweful things in its history and not have all mankind want to destroy them completely from the face of the earth? because it belongs to this earth. and why was the 1st-3rd century Christians (before constantine turned it catholic or "the official church of rome") persecuted horribly and all of mankind was actively trying to destroy it although it was truly living according to the Spirit of God (for the most part)? because it was not of this world; it belongs to the next world. and if you believe that Satan is in control of this temporary world then you know why. he doesn't want to attack what is not of God only what is of God. that is why... peace

Christians are catholics dear. Most Christan's try to act like their religion is the only one that can be accepted. or they act holier than thou at times and many of them don't follow the book closely enough and they encourage others to do what they don't. Not all of them are hypocrites but a greater majority twist the bible to fit their needs. I have witnessed many of those things in my own church. so it's not a stereotype to me when I've witnessed it first hand.
