To me, this is like a Church Pastor finding out his deacons are satanists. They are legally free to have that religion, but it doesn't at all fit the needs of the job.

Likewise, someone who expects to work in the field of the biological sciences who does not understand (because he has a vested religious interest in not understanding) evolutionary theory cannot possibly fit the job. Belief need not apply. It would be like hiring a pilot who agrees to handle the controls of the airplane because he can pass a simulator test, but doesn't accept that the airplane really exists.

I would like to see what people think about this.

Does anyone think he took the job in order to dare people to say something to him, a kind of "in your face" statement?

I know it's a really controversial "religion" and I just want to hear your views about it. Positive and Negative. How do you feel about Ron L. Hubbard, dianetics, etc, etc. Please only intelligent answers here. I don't want people giving me one word answers. Thanks.

You can earn points by proving from history that the 1st century Church did not practice and teach the real presence (Body,Blood, Soul, and Divinity) of Christ in the Eucharist but instead practiced a symbolic communion instead.

Don't try to fool people with historical nonsense or opinions. Historical facts only please.

Planning on dishing out the work Christmas cards tomorrow and a guy at work is a 7th Day Adventist.

He is fairly quiet about this but thought it considerate to consider whether he celebrates Christmas; or if there is another holiday he would celebrate?

I'm fully aware of the story of St. Nicholas, and although he is a Saint, and did a very wonderful thing to 2 small girls back in the day... how does that translate to the obsessive, explosive, outrageously ridiculous role Santa plays during Christmas time right now?

I have a 1 year old boy, and fully intend on having more children. My husband and I think that 1 gift from Santa is sufficient and the rest of the celebration should be regarding Jesus and his blessing towards us during Christmas. One thing I love is that one of the gifts they receive, they turn around and give away to another child in more need then them.

Anyways... I'm not against those people that celebrate Santa, I just can't stand the people that celebrate him because "he is a religious figure!"

The never-ending debate about theories of creationism, intelligent design (Flying Spaghetti Monsterism?), and evolution being taught in schools.
What do you think should be taught and why?
What about religions?

No bashing please!

I was volunteering at my child's school for book fair and found a box of "The Golden Compass" books that were not out for the kids. I started to put them out and the Librarian stopped me. She stated the whole deal about it being written by an Atheist and that if they weren't out, the kids wouldn't know about it. I was appauled!! It wasn't even the novel, just short picture story books of the movie! What would you think if this happened at your child's school?

Im re-doing a part of my R.S coursework and I have to talk through all the features in a mosque. I only need to write about mortuaries but i don't know what to write about them. I've looked through text-books and had a look on the internet but i can't find anything.

All i have so far is, ' The mosque has a mortuary on-site to wash and prepare bodies for a quick funeral.'

Any input on the matter would be appreciated, thank-you!

I have just read the article on Christmas ....see link

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/pressass/20071210/tuk-put-christ-back-into-christmas-6323e80_1.html

Finally political correctness is beginning to be given the boot. Christ is the centre of Christmas and it should be shouted from the rooftops.....what say ye all ?

Because apparently you don't have to believe in what your work encompasses and if they refuse to hire you, then it's discrimination.

(In reference to the preson studying biology that was fired.)

There's this big war to defend the "American way of life" when people in America itself cannot live the way they choose to, without being damned to hell by people on the streets for not converting to christianity!
In the interest of Harmony and peoples rights to their way of life, should proselytising be banned?

I have noticed some of the questions coming up about proving/disproving some foundations of ideologies.
I just thought I'd ask this:
Who do you think the burden of proof is on the shoulders of; the Theists, or the Atheists? why or why not?

My younger sister is 20, but mentally she's around 6 years old. BUT she does have some understanding that's appropriate for her age. She understands, to a point, things that a 20 year old would, but for the most part, her comprehension level is that of a 6 year old.

She asked for a Bible for Christmas, and I'm not sure what kind I should get her. I know she wouldn't be able to comprehend an adult's Bible, but I feel a very youth-oriented one would be a bit TOO young for her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance, and God Bless.
