Okay. Let's say these two were to exist. Would they have belly buttons? They supposedly weren't born in the traditional sense....

The controversial article, titled “The Great Belly Button Debate” (Does God Exist?, Sept/Oct, 2006, 13ff), consumed considerable space exploring that riveting theological question, “Did God create Adam and Eve with navels?” In paragraph-after-paragraph of an uncommonly boring assemblage of words, the author concluded that the first couple did not have belly buttons since neither was the result of the uterine development/birth process, of which the navel is a lingering sign. But that was not the radical gentleman’s primary point. He argued that premise only as a maneuver to advance his real agenda, attempted Biblical support of evolution (Gap Theory).

The author contended that Adam and Eve did not have navels, for if they had been so designed, such would have been a divine deception of the manner of their origin.

This would not necessarily be the case. At the moment of creation, man, plants and the animals were created with an apparent age. Adam was not created as a baby according to the scriptures. Therefore, to create Adam and Eve with a navel would not be beyond God's power, not would it be a "deception". Can we be certain either way? No, but it also doesn't prove anything else either.

I don't think they necessarily had to have belly buttons because belly buttons are caused by the severing of the umbilical cord from the infant's stomach after birth. Since Adam and Eve were not birthed in the traditional way, they didn't have umbilical cords and probably didn't have belly buttons.

However, for the sake of having anatomical consistency for future generations, it is quite possible that God simply created them with belly buttons and the genetic codes for umbilical cords (which would lead to future belly buttons) so that future generations would survive the womb.

And I realize I have put entirely too much thought into this obviously silly and superfluous question, but still...if you actually wanted to know, I want to actually respond.

this question has been asked many times. Adam was created from the dust, not from a woman, so no he did not have a belly button. Eve was created from Adam's rib and she did not have a belly button either. we are born from our mothers so we do have belly buttons. yes they did exist

Ok well if you don't believe that they existed why are you asking the question? Ok anyway, Adam was created from the dust of the ground.

(Genesis 2:7) 7 And Jehovah God proceeded to form the man out of dust from the ground and to blow into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man came to be a living soul.

So then Jehovah God realized that Adam shouldn't go on by himself.

(Genesis 2:18) 18 And Jehovah God went on to say: “It is not good for the man to continue by himself. I am going to make a helper for him, as a complement of him.”

So he made him a complement which came from Adam's rib, essentially fromt he dust.

(Genesis 2:22-23) 22 And Jehovah God proceeded to build the rib that he had taken from the man into a woman and to bring her to the man. 23 Then the man said: “This is at last bone of my bones And flesh of my flesh. This one will be called Woman, Because from man this one was taken.”

(Genesis 3:19) 19 In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.”

Why don't you first start learning how to get to paradise? Once you are there and when God resurrect Abel then you can ask him whether his father Adam have belly button or not. Or you could ask God once you get to paradise.

The story of Adam and Eve is a lie, told by the father of lies, to his servant Moses, on the mountain "of sin" in the wilderness "of sin". The truth as told (shown) by Jesus is that Eve was before Adam. All of Eve's children were born of the Holy Spirit, not of the will of men, but of God the Father.

No need for them so I would bet that they did not. That would also have made quite a statement to those whom they saw over the several hundred years of their lives.

Hope that helps.

Blah blah blah.

A more interesting and original question would be, "Does God have a belly button?"

Since Adam and Eve were made in God's image, that would answer your question.

Seems like they would NOT have needed them, since they were not ever attached to any placenta.
We did, so we have them, they did not.
Logical answer is probably true, but it is all speculation.... so, what to do? what to do?
