In my bible (kjv) it says God SAID let there be light, and there was. It says he caused the earth to come up from the water. It says he created the birds plants, animals, etc etc.
But why does it give the recipe for man? One could assume he spoke all the other things into creation, but why did he need something else to make us? Why was earth so integral? Why did he breath life into man, instead of just speaking?

does that mean the first dynasty Sumerian kings were more perfect since most of them ruled an average of 30 000 years? God must have loved them more.

btw, I live in South West Washington State and the Rosary stopped the water from coming up into my house by FEET. Why do other places get the term hurricanes when we get just about the same (gusts of 128 miles an hour) they only call them storms?

So I've heard many christians and christian groups saying that things like 'The Golden Compass' and other movies/books/etc. which may be interpreted as Atheist, are "targeting children".
And I must say-THIS MAKES ME SO MAD! How many things do you see EVERY DAY that are very openly christian and DIRECTLY TARGET CHILDREN? Very very many! It is not right that christians and other major religions have more freedom to protest spread their ideas than Athiests do. Your thoughts?

P.s. this spell check is telling me that spelling 'christian' with a lower case C is incorrect, but spelling 'Athiest' with a lower case A is alright.

I am personally not against the movie whatsoever. I'm not catholic but, I'm not atheist or agnostic either. I'm just a christian. But, I think it's silly that the Church is accusing this movie as anti-religious. I mean, come on, its a movie. It's fictional. I have no idea why some christians are taking some things to an extreme. But, thats my opinion. What are your views?

Ok, I'm not lashing out on Philip Pullman, atheists, agnostics, or anyone who likes that book. All I'm saying is that I think that this book is insulting to Christians. I would never let my children see or read the books. Anyone agree?

i do not buy the whole mayan prediction of the world ending on 2012. i believe the Bible's Revelations and its predictions, but i'd like to hear other people's theories, because i know there are some theories that the end has actually happened, or that it is happening, or the more convential theory that it is in the future. so, what are your thoughts about the end of the world?

Check out this ridiculous article put up by yahoo to try to convince evangelicals and Mormons that they can't like each other. Im not from either one of these group, but its clearly just an attempt to fracture the religious vote, what a joke.

Kind of curious about this and not sure it is true. I know Catholics claim the deuterocanonicals belong in the Bible based upon the Septuagint. It is said the deutero's where in there and that was the version of the OT used by Jesus so therefore they belong in the Bible. However I read some of the books of Esdras were left out and so was the prayer of Manasseh. Is this the case? If it is doesn't it weaken the claim that the other deutero's belong because they are in the Septuagint?

It doesn't make sense to ask someone to believe something without proof, then punish them for not believing it. Shouldn't we then believe any unprovable thing that anyone tells us just in case?
