Ok, I'm not lashing out on Philip Pullman, atheists, agnostics, or anyone who likes that book. All I'm saying is that I think that this book is insulting to Christians. I would never let my children see or read the books. Anyone agree?

No, but I certainly respect your choice to raise your kids and believe the way you want.

The book is not about killing God but an imposter that pretends to be God. Maybe if you would have read the book instead of turning your mouth into your butt then maybe you woulding be saying nothing but comeplete crap.

Children need to think for themselves as to who they want to believe. I don't think they can think for themselves when giving them biased anti-gay, anti-interracial, never question the lord upbringing.

If your children's faith in God is so weak that it can be broken by a movie that we probably won't give a care in a world about 5 years from now then I think that you have other things ot worry about than a silly movie.

have you read the books or seen the movie? that's my only concern. it's fine to form an opinion, but not if you haven't seen or read first.

you know, people wanted to ban "The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" because Twain used the N-word liberally. i'm glad it wasn't banned. It's a great tool in teaching the importance of treating all people regardless of age, gender or race with human dignity. who's to say "The Golden Compass" doesn't teach us something?

No. In fact I think the books are wonderful in their descriptions of Gnostic (not Agnostic, that's totally different) beliefs. I think children should be exposed to many different, and sometimes opposing ideas. If the child can't defend their own beliefs against other beliefs, or if a simple book or the knowledge of other beliefs are going to destroy their own... what good is their belief? It will fail them when REAL challenges to their faith, such as the death of a loved one comes at them because it can't stand up to lesser challenges.

But that's just my opinion.

No, I don't agree. I think that kids should use their own brains and that you shouldn't do their thinking for them. You haven't seen the movie, you're basing this decision on other people's opinions, and imposing that decision on your kids. If your religion is so great, why are so many of you freaking out over this movie and trying to tell other people not to see it?

That's one of the main problems I have with Christianity. Is your faith so weak that it can't sit through a movie that doesn't fall in line with your beliefs? Are you that sensitive? Really? Because if you are, don't expect your religion to last a whole lot longer.

I'm going to see it. My kids can decide for themselves.

Have you ever READ it?

You Christians think EVERYONE is insulting you. Honestly. So paranoid...

Besides, you should let your kids choose their own path. Why are you so scared they won't choose Christianity? If you taught them well enough (READ: close minded enough) then you have nothing to worry about. If they can't read a book or watch a movie without converting...that's sad.

Oh, I get it now. You're afraid that if they see the movie or read the book then they would use their minds and form an opinion of their own that doesn't coincide with yours.

<.< Fine don't let your children read this book, in fact send them back in time and teach them that the bible says slavery is okay, or that beating someone is alright too. Just because you are a xtian doesn't mean your moral compass surpasses the regular normal right people, in fact it lessens it. Please I am offended by your narrow minded and insulting nature of your question. Their children not holy warriors.

I find a lot of things insulting to me. Do I go out and boycott or try to ban them? No, I just don't involve myself with whatever it is. FREE SPEECH. What is so hard to understand about that?
