So I've heard many christians and christian groups saying that things like 'The Golden Compass' and other movies/books/etc. which may be interpreted as Atheist, are "targeting children".
And I must say-THIS MAKES ME SO MAD! How many things do you see EVERY DAY that are very openly christian and DIRECTLY TARGET CHILDREN? Very very many! It is not right that christians and other major religions have more freedom to protest spread their ideas than Athiests do. Your thoughts?

P.s. this spell check is telling me that spelling 'christian' with a lower case C is incorrect, but spelling 'Athiest' with a lower case A is alright.

I don't get it.

Christians think they have every right in the world to try to force people to see their lord, yet the SECOND Atheists do anything mildly anti-god..

OH MY LORD THE WORLD IS COMING TO AN END.

LET'S BOYCOTT THE WORLD!

JESUS LOVES YOU!

Pah. Idiots.

They don't see Atheists picketing infront of christian churches, do they? They don't see Atheists building a bonfire of bibles in the street, do they?

They preach it, but they don't ever live it.

Christians can stuff it.

It's "atheist". e before i

I spelled it wrong and used the spell checker. The first time, it didn't catch it. The second time, it did and suggested the correct spelling. Hmm.

My kids saw "Evan Almighty." I didn't freak out about it. They have Christmas in their faces everywhere they go right now. You don't see me keeping them at home. They go to school with Christians and Jehovah's Witnesses and Muslims - they aren't home-schooled.

They aren't easily swayed. They think for themselves, and so do I. Some day, an anti-atheist movie might come out, and I'll go see it. They might, they might not, I don't know what they'll want to do, but one thing we will NEVER do is try to tell other people what to see or not see. The creators of the film have the right to freedom of expression, as do all of us. We have the right to see the film or not see it, but we do not have the right to say that it shouldn't exist or impose our opinions on other people.

I remember watching the landing on the moon when I was a child. Scientists were so sure the moon had been around for billions of years that they were concerned about the amount of dust that had accumulated, fearful that the lander would sink into a thick layer of the stuff and be in a heap of trouble. Listening to the conversations that were broadcast to every home revealed that the surface was so solid and so shallow in dust that even the engines had produced hardly any crater at all. This was in direct opposition to the predictions that had been made, and when viewed with unbiased eyes reveals the theory of evolution to be an impossibility. According to the calculations the lander should have experienced a minimum of fifty feet of fine powder.
Who is targeting the children today?

Exactly!

People who consider themselves sane and honest go into Sunday school every week and tell innocent children that a man collected 2 of every species and put them on a homemade boat then after some time redistributed all of them back to the appropriate environment. There's nothing to be said about that other than there are a million and one reasons it could not possibly be true.

Who's "targeting children"?

Don't worry. All the karma will backlash against these types of Christians. It will become more and more not tolerated. We just have to stay together and remove the unwanted energy step by step. Despite common illusions, more and more people are turning away from Christianity. Guess what will happen when Christians cease to be the majority....

Children are targets for everything - including tobacco companies and the drug dealer on the corner... They, along with our elderly, are the most vulnerable. Aside from fetuses. Followed by the animals. Are you against then, protecting children? Evil is evil. It is all around us in the form of everything. That also includes all religious groups.

It is spelt as "Atheist" not "Athiest", you have a weird spell checker.

Anyway, first thing first, atheists do not believe in god(s). If the children in "the Golden Compass" is going to kill "god", does it not show the oxymoron when the christians said it is atheistic?

Double standards. It makes me a little crazy too. It's OK for Christians to go out and target people but atheists are evil! And they complain about being discriminated against.

i think people are getting dramatic over nothing. if they're raising their children properly, i.e. discussing books and movies with them, discussing faith and religion, and helping the children to grow into people who can think for themselves (and follow a faith of their own choosing) then it shouldn't matter what the rest of the world is doing. sheesh, people, raise your own kids and stop expecting the world to bow down. if you don't want your kid seeing the Golden Compass (or Saving Private Ryan, or Debbie Does Dallas, or whatever) tell them so. tell them why. talk to them about it. listen to their perspective. it's impossible to protect them from everything, but you can arm them with the tools they need to make good decision for themselves.

I agree, such a terrible double standard, I truly am offended by these harmonious acts of good faith and tolerance (sarcasms in case you didn't get it) No I am offended by peoples offense of a book, go ahead ban the book and movie then ban yourself for the same reasons
