Surely the joy of a special day comes from knowing it is exceptional? When a warm day follows cloud, or your birthday comes after just another day at work, you appreciate it. Is Heaven designed to take that all away? It just isn't possible to know what is good if the state remains constantly the same. We need darkness to value the sunshine.

Why? It's defined as the hardest question to answer when it comes to why God permits suffering or why the world is in such horrible conditions. But the accompanying article answers that question in a way that can benefit all who read it thoroughly and honestly.

My oldest daughter lost one of her sorority sisters this morning. My child is a believer and I am not. Any helpful ideas on what to say to her or just let her talk it out? She will be calling in a few hours to talk..I never have been one that dealt with death in a rational manner anyway..Keep me in your thoughts and thanks in advance to all who answer.

By my definition of spirituality, believing in self, believing in the power of mother nature, believing in natural selection as a process, believing in the magical interconnectedness of life from lightning strike to amino acid to protein to organelle to single-celled organism to full life form, these are all forms of being spirtual.

What say you all? Can you accept that just like one singular person doesn't subscribe to every scientific theory all at once so too can can it be acceptable that many world-views can co-exist without belittling one over another?

It's the hebrew scripture,and Jews are forever claiming that their translations are superior and their understanding superior. Wouldn't they be the people to ask if they have a question about the OT? Do they even know that is the Jewish scripture? It's called the Tanahk. I never read it myself. I don't think most Christians do,other than fundies,since it's superceded by Christ's new covenant.

Why is it that some Christians consider Lord of the Rings good and Harry Potter bad?
What about Bewitched? I Dream of Jeannie? Wizard of Oz?

If the issue is the use of magic, then they all have magic.
If the issue is good vs bad magic - well LOTR's has two good and bad wizards, Harry Potter has good and bad witches, Wizard of Oz has good and bad witches.
Please help me understand what exactly makes the difference between a 'Godly' book with magic and a 'Evil' book with magic.

I have a plug socket.

Whatever I plug into that socket turns itself on periodically(It has done this on lots of appliances recently)
