kinda like saying "when Dad finds out what you've done....oh you're gonna get it! Just you wait and see..."

More like "I know we've never met our Dad before because he left us as kids, but I'm sure he's coming back one day and then you'll be sorry!"

(The simile doesn't exactly work because I don't think God left and isn't coming back, but you get the idea.)

I am not exactly sure where you are coming from but no one can damn anyone. You can only damn yourself. Sure people say it all the time but no one has the power to damn another.

God has ordained many promises. Some of these promises take on the form of what not to do's that have extreme consequences. Such as if you don't follow my ways you will be cast into the lake of fire with Satan and all his servants or in other words the price you pay for sin will be eternal damnation.

God loves everyone and he wishes that none would go to Hell. He gave everyone a way to escape eternal damnation but it's up to us. We have the right and the freedom to live the way we want. He also desires that we choose to follow after him. He has many blessings for us if we do.

And.. God knows when we do things.. we don't have to "wait" for him to find out but we do have to "wait" for the consequences sometimes.

Hope this helps.

Kind of, but the person doing the threatening has NO authority to do the threatening!!! Not that your sibling has the authority to follow thru on their threat, but they're probably more inclined to be right than the person threatening eternal damnation.

A phrase like that all depends on who is posing the statement. If a cashier at Denny's damns you to hell versus God himself... I'd take God's word more seriously. As for "when Dad finds out what you've done... oh your gonna get it!" is a little far off of eternal damnation.

No, its not same. Another person cannot 'threaten' with damnation. If you follow the rule that you will be punished for your transgressions, your punishment certainly won't be decided by a mere human. The Creator alone makes that call.

On the other hand, a human can threaten you with "hell on earth". In which case, he/she becomes your constant companion........lol

Hopefully, you aren't the one damning someone. That could easily backfire.....

Blessings.

No. Eternal damnation has much more severe consequences then punishment from Dad. Way different league.
Besides, only God can make that call, not people.

Yeah, I suppose it is. However I rarely see anyone "threaten" other people with eternal damnation. I see warnings, not threats. No Christian wishes eternal damnation on anyone, that's why we talk about Jesus so much. We still believe hell is real and a lot of people will go there because they don't know Jesus.

I'd ask just who appointed you (to the person who threatened me with eternal damnation) in charge of handing out eternal damnations?

Can you tell me where it states in the scriptures that there exists a place of eternal damnation for humans?

you've got it backwards

the Father isn't waiting to know... He knew before He swung the earth into orbit. and He is not whispering to christians and not everyone else and saying that we need to tell them they're doing wrong.

the Father is speaking through His Word the Bible what He said from the beginning and what He will say in the end. We christians are being spoken to through the Bible that is available to all, and we're merely echoing the Words of God.

but you'll wave a lavish hand at what i say because you yourself aren't willing to take my word for it... that is why im saying, TAKE GOD'S WORD FOR IT.

Yeah but when Dad finds out I actually get punished, eternal damnation is all fake hogwash.
