So we just finished reading Dante's Inferno (about the levels of Hell) in my 11th grade LIT class..and the teacher asked everyone to say something that the book has taught you. I, being atheist, said that since I am not Christian, this book taught me about how Christians viewed hell and how I didn't know there were different levels of hell before..

my class is 95% Christian..and the minute I said this, everyone started yelling and saying "THIS BOOK IS FICTION..WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? THERE AREN'T DIFFERENT LEVELS!!" and talking down to me like i'm dumb. I SAID im not christian. This just made me so mad and embarassed because I am very soft spoken and never say a thing in class so this dropped my self esteem even more. How do I deal with it? Now I feel weird to see all those people again.. Was it my fault?

Just curious. I was never in the service or combat.to all others Oh yeah, you can talk bravely about disbelief now that you’re young and healthy, but wait until you need him, then you’ll see how you beg for him to save you or a loved one.

America is the most armed civilian population in the world, with 90 guns per 100 people! Why does America with it's predominently christian population have no faith in other christians? What is the need for so many guns with civilians?

My friend is a practicing Wiccan and I want to include her and her family in my holiday celebrations. Is it appropriate to send then a holiday greeting card that is non-Christian and include a personal note wishing her and her family a Blessed Yule? What is the proper terminology to use? Can I give them a small gift? I want to surprise them with an appropriate holiday greeting to show support and understanding of their faith.

JOHN 3:2-3,7
2 This one came to him in the night and said to him: “Rabbi, we know that you as a teacher have come from God; for no one can perform these signs that you perform unless God is with him.” 3 In answer Jesus said to him: “Most truly I say to you, Unless anyone is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
7 Do not marvel because I told you, YOU people must be born again.

this is a commandment straight from the horses mouth. you guys are so big on following the commandments of jesus. why do you skip this one? : NOTICE in verse 7... 'YOU MUST be born again"
it is looked down upon to even mention the words born again around a group of witnesses. why?

I AM A 28 YEAR OLD WIFE AND MOTHER OF 4. i WAS RAISED ROMAN CATHOIC WITH A STRONG BELIEF IN JESUS AND GOD AND GOING TO HEAVEN. DURING MY TEENAGE YEARS, I CAN REMEMBER SITTING UP AT NIGHT NOT SLEEPING AND THINKING OF WHAT IS TO HAPPEN AFTER I DIE. NOW AT 28, I STILL DO THE SAME THING. ANYTIME I THINK ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AFTER DEATH I FEEL THE FEAR GRIP ME FOR THAT MOMENT, ALMOST LIKE A MOMENT OF PANIC WHEN I THINK THAT WHEN WE DIE THERE MAY BE ABSOLUTY NOTHING AT ALL, EVEN THOUGH I GREW UP BELEIVING THAT THERE WAS HEAVEN. iT IS THE WORST FEELING IN THE WORLD. I FEEL GUILTY FOR HAVING THIS FEAR BECAUSE I TRY MY BEST TO BE A GOOD CATHOLIC .
RECENTLY MY 5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER HAS STARTED COMING TO ME CRYING BECAUSE SHE DOESNT WANT TO "BE DEAD" . SHE ASKS QUESTIONS AND CRIES AND IS SCARED. I HAVE NEVER EXPRESSED MY FEARS TO MY CHILDREN, AND I HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO REASSURE HER THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE FINE WHEN I AM SCARED OUT OF MY MIND ABOUT THE SUBJECT. I DID THIS AT MY DAUGHTERS AGE ALSO.

Pain in child birth was imposed upon women as a result of Eve's sin. Catholics since you believe Mary was free from sin did she suffer the pains of child birth?

Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

If you get what you're praying for, it's usually because you've worked your *ss off to get it. If you don't get it it's because "god didn't want you to have it so you shouldn't have it" Realistically, that sounds more like "I was too lazy to go after what I wanted so I'm gonna say god didn't want me to have it". So what's the point?

17 For the kingdom of God does not mean eating and drinking, but [means] righteousness and peace and joy with holy spirit. 18 For he who in this regard slaves for Christ is acceptable to God and has approval with men.

also, in verse 18 is really points out the importance to be a slave "to Christ" not to an organization that takes attention away from the Deity of Christ.

I have been walking in the indescribable Presence of God after I returned to the Garden and Kingdom of God after my salvation and subsequent spontaneous, involuntary Baptism of the Holy Spirit on March 13. Yet Jesus Christ says there will be times when we will seek Him and not find Him, times of drought. I have had a spiritual abundance of the Presence of God (Holy Spirit/Shechinah) since my Baptism, and see God present in everything I do and the entire world that I perceive.

Yet, I read someone on here who had the Presence leave them after 7 years and then they had to walk by faith. This would scare me, although I have faith in God, to not dwell in His Presence for the rest of my life.

After your Baptism and indwelling (enlightenment), has the Presence of God left you for any reason? When? If so, did it ever come back or did you ever recover it?

thanks

Hello, all:

With the goal of emphasizing our similarities rather than our differences, if possible... do Christianity (in any form) and Wicca share anything in common?

Thanks to all who take the time to respond.
