Yes some off it and have you seen the religious fanatics who do know their own holy book word for word, they are all look a bit confused to me,trying to explain everything, and all they know is their own religious doctrine.Lets move on we all live in the 21st century now so leave all that superstition behind.

Portions, but the cantillation is barely recognizable. You do mean the bible in the original Hebrew and Aramaic, I assume? Memorizing a translation is easier, but it's a modern interpretation, rather than the original text. Of course, "original" could be disputed as well, since the bible wasn't redacted in it's present form until historical times.

Millions of Muslims have memorized the Quran word for word but I've never heard of a Christian memorizing the Bible.

It is not a question of memorizing it word for word,,,that will do you no good....the words need to be a part of you. You must put the words in your heart....you don't have to know them by rote,,and repetition....that is not what God intended. He wanted you to understand what you are reading. A lot of atheists know the bible better than some Christians,,but it will do them no good....

It is not only the words that should be known to the bible but it is the meaning of the words in the bible including the many parables written in it.

Well, that would be neither mastering the Bible, nor mastering reading. It would be impressive in terms of the sheer capacity to retain data, however.

My good ol' missionary Jesus freak parents made me memorize almost all the New Testament as well as some of the old. :P
I stopped about six years ago. Now all that I memorized is vague. Oh, well.

No. I just started it a couple months ago. It is so interesting and I cannot wait to learn more and more everytime I read it. I hope I can become so familiar with it.
