to put it most simply, agnostics (a word which means not-knowing) believe one cannot make a compelling case either for or against the existence of a god, deity, or higher power.

Two kinds of agnostics,

ones that aren't sure about what they believe so they call themselves agnostic

then there is people like me who don't necessarily believe in god, but don't believe that there is enough evidence or reasoning to not believe in god.

It is the philosophy based upon humility - we don't believe we have all the answers so we keep out options open and generally don't disregard any other persons belief.

My understanding has two parts: that they believe there likely is a higher power, but that higher power is far beyond human comprehension and/or they are unsure if there is a higher power.

If I break down the word, a-gnostic, I get "a" meaning "without" and "gnosis" meaning "knowledge" so a concise definition would be "without knowlege". An agnostic is someone without specific knowledge about a higher power.

If you looked up the definition of agnostic, why are you asking us what an agnostic believes in? The definition says it all.

"A person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable. One who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god."

They just don't want to believe or have faith. Unlike atheists who think faith is just false, agnostics prefer to take a middle line approach that they don't have the answers, thus they are willing to live with the unknown being the unknown.

Agnosticism is the principle that the existence of a deity is unknowable; that is, that we cannot ever know for sure if god/s are real.

Other than that, different agnostics *believe* lots of different things. I'm an agnostic atheist, but I know a few agnostic deists and theists.

They believe either that the existence of gods is unknowable by humans, or that it is knowable but that they personally lack that knowledge. The former belief is sometimes called strong agnosticism, with the latter referred to as weak agnosticism.
The word comes from 'gnostic' meaning 'having knowledge' combined with the prefix a- which means 'without'.

They're not sure.

Agnostics basically say we can't know for sure if there is a higher power (God) or not.

I often say, "An agnostic is an atheist who's afraid to commit."

Agnostics do not think it is possible to know if god exists or not.

If your question really is: Do agnostics have any beliefs in gods?

The answer is usually no.
