I've learned that within the circles of Mormons there are instituted; priesthood of Aaron and priesthood of Melchizedek

a) Why are these names chosen for these "priesthoods"

b) What are the criteria’s for being elected or appointed to priesthood of Aaron?

c) Are members of priesthood of Aaron actual descendants of the tribe of Levi (Num 3:9-10)

d) On what Scriptural basis are people elected or appointed to priesthood of Melchizedek

At first it could seem like exercise in blasphemy or ignorance on LDS’s side. That’s why I am asking.

Please no jokes or ignorant answers, but instead back it up with passages from our holy Scripture.

Thank you in advance and God Bless

Sola Scriptura

God creates hell, then threatens us with it if we don't believe. Sounds like the Mafia to me. Is there some theological point I'm missing?

I have heard from many that are non-religious that they keep other's in their thoughts when going through a difficult time. What is the point of this? If someone believes in a 'God' that answers prayers, then I can see the point of someone saying they will pray for another person. I am not trying to be mean, but what is accomplished with thinking about another person. Isn't it basically powerless? Yes, I know that some believe prayer is powerless, but the person that is praying does NOT think that way. If someone is simply thinking about another person's situation, what is that person believing they are accomplishing?

Okay I have a few questions to ask, as of right now I guess I am a catholic, but I need to hear the opposing side of these questions because if I ask my parents they start calling me the devil and saying I am possesed....
1) Jesus said the Pope will be pure and never make mistakes, yet there have been corrupt popes in the past.
2) The catholic church used to hear confessions for money...corruption?

John 6: Jesus said to them, "I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me, and I in him. Just as the living Father sent me and I live because of the Father, so the one who feeds on me will live because of me. This is the bread that came down from heaven. Your forefathers ate manna and died, but he who feeds on this bread will live forever."

On hearing it, many of his disciples said, "This is a hard teaching. Who can accept it?" . . . . From this time many of his disciples turned back and no longer followed him.

Isn't a Protestant someone who takes issue with a difficult teaching of Christ and joins others who prefer a different gospel?

Is salvation just a prayer? Is it an ongoing process? Do you need baptism? How do you get salvation? Explain your answer in as much detail as possible(please).

Is that because it would have exposed God for what he is, Evil? Obviously Satan wanted them to eat it, but that seems illogical as it would have exposed him for what he was, but he seemed to encourage that. So why was God afraid and Satan not? Kind of seems that God would be the evil one and Satan the Good one from who was doing the encouraging, plus also who murdered more throughout the Bible.

okay, i am 13yo. i relly want to learn about wiccans and witches and magic, and be a wiccan/witch/do magic, but i have no one to teach me. i acn't really pay, or buy too expensive books, and my parents like it when i learn about things, as long as i dont become obbsessed, so i basically have their approval.
I really hope that there is someone out there who can teach me stuff, and things like meditaion. i dont really know how how to do medication, but of what i know, i can kinda do it.
So if any one who is studied in the art of magic/wiccan/witch will help me, this is basically what this is about. and please only answer if you're serious. thx *-* and if you're going to suggest books, please say what they are, their title+author

Truth, the more people tell, the more other people try to shut them up

The first person to translate the bible into english was burnt at the stake by the church, seeing as they only wanted to mesmerise people in latin

on that note

which bible do you think is more accurate

The king James, edited by a protestant king, with an assassination attempt made on his life and the house of parliament by catholics (guy fawkes and co) in an attempt to change that version of the bible and return england to a catholic free state

or the new world translation

a bible written in the 1950's with every instance of Jesus as god altered,
and every instance of Jesus receving worship called obesiance
but when Jehovah receives worship it's called Worship

a bible that translates the beast in revelations as wild beasts, the only one that does so

a bible that faced no opposition being launched
in comaprison with catholics planting explosives in an attempt to cruch the word of god in the KJV

I could care less what someone believes but if you have a question that has to do with something of a religious nature then ask, but why do some feel the need to just get on here and preach?

isn't a revelation something that is revealed only to you?

If I had a religious revelation, maybe a sign from God, this would be a miracle. but once that revelation has passed on to someone else that revelation loses its authenticity and becomes nothing more than hearsay. whether the revelation is true or a false, the fact remains that, second hand, doesn't the information and knowledge becomes a matter of my credability as a witness? So if I then wrote this revelation down for future generations, how would they verify my revealed miracle? the answer would be they cannot, for they would have no knowledge of me as a person except for this written work, thus it would be logical to pass judgement and conclude that the statement is false.
it falls under the heading of mystery, like the Loch Ness Monster mystery; do you believe someone when they say they have seen it or not, the subject whether true or false comes down to the credulity of the witness. Isn't this the case with the bible

is the "right or true" Christian Church. I see so much "hair splitting" and arguing about this subject here on Y/A, that I am beginning to think that there is too much about defending denominations than there is about defending the Gospel of Christ. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ. Just because we disagree on trivial issues, why should there be so much antagonism? Would Jesus approve?

(I could have included it in this question, but this is less cumbersome. Now and then, the Back button from there *seems* not to work. I don't know why. But if it happens, just click on that button several times, *rapidly*, and you'll return here with no problem.)
