Not really an R&S question, but I value you guys' opinions.

I've been with my fiance for 7 years. We have a daughter who is almost 5, we've been living together since right before she was born, and a new son due to make his first appearance in February. We have finally decided to tie the knot and our wedding will be in May.

Everyone says that getting married changes things, and I was wondering if anyone had been in a very long term relationship beforehand experienced this, or is it just a big change for those who have been in shorter relationships?

Don't they know that Humanism affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity, without theism and other supernatural beliefs?

Also, how many were killed directly by God?
Please do not include people killed by other people because God told them to.

It seems like the number one reason they come here is to wait for theistic questions to pounce on with flippant answers such as:

"There is no god!"
"All religion is just a myth!"
"Prove there's a god!"
"Religion is the reason for all violence!"
"There's no proof God exists therefore there is no god!"
"Since there is no God your question is irrelevant!"
etc...

...or sometimes it's just a snide abusive insult crafted to gain attention and acceptance from trolls like themselves.

Why else do atheists come to a religion & spirituality forum?

Answer while you can because this will surely be reported by whiners.

Have a nice day!

Proverbs 6:26: "for because of a harlot a man comes to his last loaf of bread....."
Are harlots bad luck? Are they accursed? Carry a curse? What's happening there to have such a negative effect on a man?

I'm so scared..
I feel I'm evil..
The god delusion challenge me that I'm arrogance ..
Equaling god.. Do you think you deserve that !!
I feel so guilty.. So scared..

But I keep my consciousness.. That I'm not an evil.. And this is not pride.. Just to be free..

I'm facing final challenge..
The illusion of god.. Give another offer..
No hell.. No sin.. No need to feel shame or guilty..
There're only peace, love of god in eternal heaven..

A part of me want to accept it.. Nothing is wrong with this..
But a part of me tells that this is not freedom..

Oh friends.. Help me.. How do I refuse this perfect offer of god ?

But I feel.. It's not right.. What can I hold in this final letting go process ?

If there is no God and we are all just animals on the planet doesn't that mean that survival of the fittest is the only law that man should honor?

I'm not trying to convert anyone....just trying to understand how atheists view laws in light of their atheism.

The primary Scriptural passage Catholics point to for evidence of Purgatory is 1 Corinthians 3:15, which says, “If it is burned up, he will suffer loss; he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.” The passage (1 Corinthians 3:12-15) is using an illustration of things going through fire as a description of believers’ works being judged. If our works are of good quality “gold, sliver, costly stones,” they will pass through the fire unharmed, and we will be rewarded for them. If our works are of poor quality “wood, hay, and straw,” they will be consumed by the fire, and there will be no reward. The passage does not say that believers pass through the fire, but rather that a believer’s works pass through the fire. 1 Corinthians 3:15 refers to the believer “escaping through the flames,” not “being cleansed by the flames.”

My Husbands Mother says you should do something and then pray to God for guidance along the way...My Husband says you should pray and have patience and God will give you what you want without having to maybe ruin your chances by being impatient and trying to do something yourself...
For example, If I wanted to open a day home my Husbands Mother would say go get a loan and start on it straight ahead and pray to God for help, where as my Husband would say, WAIT, and just keep praying and God will give it to you eventually unless he has something else planned for you.
What do you think?

with 'reckless praying'? Or is it just selective results that matter? When there is a bad car crash and one of the people somehow survive, why do the people say it was God that saved them? What about the other people that died? Is God that callous and selective ?

The Bible says Moses was instructed by GOD to go to the pharoah of Egypt and tell him to let his people go, but the Bible never mentions the name of this phaorah. What was his name? Biblical scolars say Moses freed his people around 1313 B.C.E. How come the Egyptian people at that time have no mention of Moses in their records? If Moses freed all the slaves of Egypt, that would have caused some type of hardship in Egypt (mainly economicaly.) PLEASE, NO PRE-PACKAGED ANSWERS!!! INCLUDE HISTORICAL REFERENCES PLEASE!!!

I see some low level love among Christians. I also see that when their real god money comes into the picture Jesus goes right down the drain. Half the people in church are there for business reasons. The other half are there to pick up a easy hit.

'...Is it not I, Jehovah, besides whom there is no other God; a righteous God and a Saviour, there being none excepting me? Turn to me and be saved, all YOU [at the] ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no one else.' (Isaiah 45:21,22)

Question: Who is there that is another Saviour besides Jehovah God, who saves his people from their sins?

Now compare with Matthew 1:20, 21 - "Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife home, for that which has been begotten in her is by holy spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you must call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins."

Question: Who shall save his people from their sins?

CCC 1 - God, infinitely perfect and blessed in himself, in a plan of sheer goodness freely created man to make him share in his own blessed life. For this reason, at every time and in every place, God draws close to man. He calls man to seek him, to know him, to love him with all his strength. He calls together all men, scattered and divided by sin, into the unity of his family, the Church. To accomplish this, when the fullness of time had come, God sent his Son as Redeemer and Savior. In his Son and through him, he invites men to become, in the Holy Spirit, his adopted children and thus heirs of his blessed life.
