I find myself waking up alot for no apparent reason, and a friend of mine once said, "When you wake up like that, you are to pray for someone, whoever has been on your mind or in your dreams"

Do you feel the same?

i.e.
Answered prayers are proof of God's existence; but unanswered prayers can not be proof of the nonexistence of God...
People surviving horrible ordeals are proof of God's mercy; but the countless others that do not survive can not be proof God is not merciful...
etc.

Any believers find themselves doing this from time to time?

Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. It is scientifically inappropriate and pedagogically irresponsible for creationist pseudoscience, including but not limited to "intelligent design," to be introduced into the science curricula of our nation's public schools.

*if so, to which degree do you think it is wrong...is it severely wrong?? why? who is going to be affected more in the long run?

i can answer these questions from my own experience, but i am more interested in what others have to say. i can, though, say that i once did pretend to believe (for many reasons) and the one who got affected and hurt the most was ME.

if so, how do you feel about being the outcast (if thats the way you want to put it)???

hmmm, i am. its now been months since i admitted to my family and that made it clear to them i am atheist... though they have accepted it pretty well, i feel like an outcast. i am the only atheist in my family.

sometimes, i dont want to be the outcast. but i cant lie and say that i do believe (or that i suddenly gained my faith back), i need to be honest to myself. i dont want to put myself through more guilt by pretending.

how is your experience??

This is a serious question. I am an atheist, and I don't celebrate Christmas in any way, shape or form. I work as a cashier on the weekends, and pretty soon customers are going to start saying "Merry Christmas" to me before they leave. I can't figure out how to handle this. I don't want to say it back. I can't just stand there and say nothing. My son tells me that "Happy Holidays" seems to anger a lot of his customers. Just wondering what to say. Any ideas?

Answer recently read regarding miscarriages and how they are caused (not my words):

"miscarriage is no one but a woman's fault. it could be that she's not too careful about her pregnancy or her ovary is just too weak and thats it!"

Am I the only one saying WTH? Regardless of your faith/nonfaith...miscarriage is the woman's fault? The weak ovary thing I'm not even going to bother with...

I am writing a research project about the Battle of Tours. There were a few questions that you could choose to answer, and I chose "What significance does the battle have for Muslims?". For my topic sentence I have "Because of the Battle of Tours the Islamic Empire lost power, Muslims became a minority, and the hard-earned powerful name was handed to the Christians." Do you have any suggestions?

This is not a bash on Christians, but I'm having a hard time understanding the overwhelming, dare I say hate, of marijuana users in the United States. It is a naturally growing plant...that according to a certain book....was created and deemed good(as was every other plant) by a certain Almighty.

Myself, I do not support abortions after 22 weeks. This coincides with the development of the neo-cortex of the brain. Without this, no fetus could suffer in any meaningful sense, nor even care if it was aborted.

We have been married ten years. He was Muslim/I was Christian. Four years later after studying I became Muslim. I stayed in the muslim faith for six years but never practiced much. Then we had two boys. After studying again this year I made a terrible mistake/should have NEVER become muslim. I wish I could take it back but I can't. Now he says that in Islam he is the head of the household and he is responsible for the kids. He thinks that is what the Bible says too. I am aware of that passage but I believe he is using that to prove his point but he doesn't believe most of what the Bible teaches. I think that is written to Christians and I am only bound by that rule if I can be "in the Lord." If I am not allowed to raise my boys in the Church should I stay with him? How should I raise my kids without church? Should I tell him they must go or else I am leaving him? He wants them to go to a private Muslim school. My son will start K next year. I need honest scriptural advice/guidance???

i am a strong christian, but i love death metal and screamo music. I kind of have a problem listening to a band that talks about satan or demons or things of the sort. I was just wondering how anti-religious these bands are; Trivium, Lamb of God, Pantera, Mudvayne, Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Children of Bodom, Black Label Society, Black Sabaath,

who said 'merry' christmas first? why not 'happy' christmas? it was a brilliant choice of word though because 'merry' and 'christmas' are inseparable today. I just want to know who is the origin and what prompted he(or she) to say 'merry' instead of 'happy'?

Did he ever achive orgasm? The conservative Christain would be apalled at the concept, but if Jesus was man then he had testicles that filled up with sperm daily and therefore would have to be secreted either by sex (no), masterbation(no), wet dream? Wet dream would be the most innocent. But what would the dream consist of? A women? A man? What? He had to secrete being a man, there is no way you can keep filling up and not spill over. No way.

Okay. My Fiance and I were discussing the story of Job. She is disturbed by it. I used to be very disturbed by it, and I still am a little bit bothered by it even now.

My Fiance asked "Wouldn't Job still miss his children who died?"

I used to think about how terrible Job's situation was. I failed to understand why a loving God would even care what Satan thought about Job's faithfulness.

Why would the God I know make a deal with his arch-nemesis? Would did God care what satan thought? Did he allow Job to go through the tortures of the damned just to prove a point to the devil?

God is not evil. He is not cruel. He is pure and good. Then how and why would be even allow satan to be in his presence? Why would God entertain satan's plans?

Did Job truly exist, or is the story merely a parable?

Thank you for your help- God bless.

How is it possible that people can buy into the ridiculous idea that the Catholic Church didn't begin until after 300 AD?

Christ’s Church is Catholic. Catholic comes from a compound of two Greek words: “kato” = according to, and “holos” = the one. Christ’s Church is for all, and all are one: the Body of Christ. It is like speaking the name “Jesus”: Christ’s name was Yeshua, not Jesus. But we say Jesus because it came to us through the Greek language, which is what the New Testament was written in. The same goes for the word “catholic”.

Was Christ’s Church hierarchical? Yes. He chose twelve apostles, made Peter the leader, and gave them authorities that all the other disciples did not have. Later, in the book of Acts, the hierarchy develops further. The apostles appoint Deacons (greek - diakonos / διάκονος ), Priests (greek - presbyteros / πρεσβυτερος ), and Bishops (greek - episkopos / επίσκοπος ), and each have different duties. It is the same today in the Catholic Church

...when you ask your Christian friends to pray for you, you don't think that interferes with Christ's mediatorship; But when Catholics ask their Christian friends in heaven to pray them, you all of a sudden say THAT interferes with Christ's mediatorship?

(NOTE: Before anyone brings up "conjuring the dead", that only refers to 2-way communication. But in Hebrews 12: 22-24 it says that as we approach God, Jesus and the angels, we also approach "the spirits of righteous men made perfect". In other words, THE SAINTS )
