This is not a bash on Christians, but I'm having a hard time understanding the overwhelming, dare I say hate, of marijuana users in the United States. It is a naturally growing plant...that according to a certain book....was created and deemed good(as was every other plant) by a certain Almighty.

I've been told by various responders that
A)I have free choice to make with my body
AND
b)To obey my leaders. HEB 11:17

However, If I obey my leaders, I no longer have the choice. So are earthly men the deciders of what behavior is acceptable or is man FREE to be sinner or saint.

TO JAVY:

CRIMINALS MAKE MONEY IN THE DRUG TRADE BECAUSE THE DRUG TRADE IS ENTIRELY RUN BY THE BLACK MARKET. PEOPLE WILL CONSUME DRUGS WHETHER THEIR LEGAL OR NOT. BY MAKING THEM ILLEGAL, YOU INSURE CRIMINAL ENTERPRISES ALWAYS HAVE A SURE FIRE WAY TO MAKE HUGE PROFITS....BECAUSE....AGAIN.....PEOPLE WILL CONSUME DRUGS REGARDLESS.

I would just hope the government is not the only ones to make it b/c they make it very weak compared to what we are used to.
Sure marijuana is a plant on earth that is natural but so is arsenic, think about that. The 'deemed good' part of your argument is speculation...provide proof.
There is now proof that there are long term affects from marijuana that are not in cocaine and other 'harder' drugs. I know I'm far less intelligent after 10 years of use.

I don't know any Christians (personally) who justify the criminalization of marijuana for its' own sake. Including my Parrish Priest! Personally I USED to smoke marijuana, and did A LOT of other things too. But when I became "re-affirmed" in my faith, I quit. It is MY belief (and Not one I would push on anyone) that as a Temple of God I should keep it as pure as I can. Does that make me a hypocrite because I smoke cigarettes (again)? I believe that to be as bad, but I'm having a very hard time putting them down for good ( I always start up again) but at least I keep trying. We should also remember to give unto Ceasar that which is Ceasers'. It is "Ceasers" law that forbids the use of marijuana. Were it to come onto the ballot I would vote to legalize it (as much as cigarettes are), But until then I will obey the law, and as MY choice will continue to not smoke it.

Not only Christians, in countries like Malaysia the punishes for using or dealing with drugs are very high, ni some countries the punishment is death. Besides this, What's the idea to use drugs an act like an idiot? To do things you don't have the ba**s to do in your senses? Every body knows that the use of drugs, even the legal ones, may kill you. Many Terrorist groups sale drug to by weapons and explosives to to all the damage they do, Why you gonna make wealthy for, for them to buy more weapons? To hurt innocents people? Come on! Weak up and smell the coffee before is too late.

Besides what you wrote to me, drugs will kill you and will make a foul out of you, doesn't matter if they are legals or illegals, the damage to your brain and body will be the same and the consequences to your health will be bad too. If you want to kill your self this way, fine, but don't try to take the others with you, is wrong in many possibles way, forget the religion and the law, is bad for your health and for the health of the others and there's nothing you can do to change that. I prefer to live in a healthy society, we have many problems already and drugs are one of them. We don't need more people like you trying to convince the other to use drugs to make their selves less guilty because they use it, we need more people who accept they are sick and want to come out of drugs. The fact that you can make may be 5 people to believe your statements won't change the reality that drugs are bad and can kill you.

Well, there are SOME good uses to marijuana, like for medical purposes. Yes, God is proud of everything He has made, however, He expects man to use it in a proper way. For example, He gave man the knowledge to make things such as weapons, but He doesn't want us to use them to kill each other with. It's all about choices. God gave us a mind to think and make choices with, and hopes we make the right decisions. And God doesn't hate marijuana users; He hates the sin, not the sinner. And REAL Christians don't hate marijuana users either. For example, those so-called "Christians" who hold up signs saying "God hates homosexuals" are so wrong and make real Christians look bad.

The thing is, The Bible has great morals but shouldn't be taken literally. Also Christians aren't supposed to judge one another, but many of them do. Christians are supposed to be forgiving.
I'm not a christian and I'm not a potsmoker, but If Marijuana was legalized, the government could tax it and make money off of it. Pot is all natural, and safer than Booze and Tabacco.

I think alot of Christians and non christians are just confused and aren't very open minded about certain issues.
It's okay to get drunk, yet if you have a marijuana ciggerette you're a bad person. It's never made sense to me.

The Catholic Church made the very first drug law in history just for cannabis and its users. That was during the Crusades in the year 1142. They could burn you at the stake for having Divine knowledge of Gods' plants. It was useful against the Persians and Arabs who enjoyed their hash-hish. Now look where we are! Cancer patients locked away to die in jail because they use a plant to ease their suffering! What would Jesus smoke!

I'm a Christian - I used to smoke weed nearly every day - it is way more harmless than tobacco or alcohol - of which I have also given up as well.

But marijuana for medicinal purposes, stomach problems, stress-relief, etc. - nothing like it.

If it were legal, I would be smoking it every day!

Many of my fellow tokers are Christians, so I don't think there's a strong corollary between Christianity and the WOD. It's just that people who believe the drug-war hysteria cranked out by the tobacco, alcohol, pharmaceutical, and privatized-prison industries tend to be stupid, and stupid people tend to have fundamentalist beliefs...

I am a Christian and I smoke Mariuana occasionally, I don't see anything wrong with it's use only it's abuse. If people us it everyday and if they think that they need it to be happy then they are hooked, if they rely on a substance instead of God the they are sinning against God.

I'm all for the decriminalization of marijuana; but that's a crappy argument. Cocaine, opium, and even cyanide are as naturally occurring in plants as THC.
