How could someone truly know if they were omniscient? I guess you could say that the person would know that they were omniscient becaue they know everything, so it stands to reason that they would know this, too. But, what if there were knowledge that existed that was not available to that person in some way. For example, what if they did have the capacity to recognize that knowledge.

Oh, this one is definitely making my head spin.

This is a question for those of the Christian and Jewish faith.

According to Deuteronomy 22:11, it is forbidden to wear blended fabrics. Do you abide by this law? I understand that Christians tend to focus on the New Testament, disregarding chunks from the Old testament as they see fit. However, Jesus states quite clearly that the laws of old still stand (Matthew 5:17-20)

Do you conveniently ignore this law, or do you abide by it?

This is question for those who believe earth to be around 5000-6000 years old.

You also believe a man from bible, Methuselah lived for 970 years or so approximately. Am I right?

So what you're saying is that one man lived around 17% of entire time. i.e 17% of 5600 years = 970 years approx.

So 17% of time of the entire Universe that has ever been around has been consumed by 1 man.

Do you agree with those round figures?

Just say Yes or No,

So I want to make a project on topic...

From my understanding, the Pascal's Wage has the assumption that god rewards faith in him. But, is there a similiar Pascal's Wage that has the assumption that god rewards being good instead of having faith?

Assuming that there is a god, and that he does reward being good, I would say atheists are pretty much in the clear, while christians are the ones who will get screwed.

Most people in life at one time or another think "what is the meaning of life?" people find some sort of answer to it. eg religion, possessions, relationships, friendships, books, nature music travel etc.
the search for meaning often involves doing many things- many people travel, or go on pilgrimages, some religions require it at least once, eg the muslims go to mecca.

in life there are many barriers to it, eg work, religion holding you back(-if you dont agree with its teaching for example). the media, relationships etc
and then some people never find meaning in life..

basically i was wondering what helps you as a human being to search -or find the meaning in life for you, and what the barriers to searching for meaning are for YOU?
i asked a question similar to this a few minutes ago but really didnt find what i was looking for: http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlA2UaNDljpa0F9_7gOQbBkgBgx.;_ylv=3?qid=20071124095355AAl5E5p

When people believe in God and heaven - they tell their kids that the person who transitioned "went to heaven" - or is with God. And many will go on to say things like, "He's with grandpa now." Whether it's true or not it's comforting. And I'm sure the parents are not intentionally lying to their kids.

What do Atheist parents tell their children to comfort them when somebody dies - especially somebody young? How do the children react?

This question is not asked in a "prove yourself" kind of way. I do believe in God - but I believe God to be LOVE. The power of love. It's not a big Daddy in the sky - and It doesn't grant wishes or judge us. Actually It doesn't DO anything. It's just there and we can chose to use it or not. I don't believe in hell - and recently - I've started to wonder WHY I believe in heaven. I'm thinking mostly because it's a comforting thought. Easier - ego stroking - comforting. Hmmmm.

According to most bible scholars the abomination of desolation spoken of by the prophet Daniel occurred in the first century. According to Jesus, when the abomination of desolation is seen standing in the holy place people should flee to the mountains because there will be tribulation such as the world has never seen or will ever see again.

If the greatest tribulation the world has ever seen is still to come even though the abomination of desolation took place in the first century then Jesus was wrong about the tribulation he said would be on the earth when the abomination of desolation is seen standing in the holy place. Is Jesus wrong or are most Bible scholars wrong?

Matthew 24:14-21 (King James Version)
King James Version (KJV)
Public Domain

14And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

15When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)

16Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:

17Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take any thing out of his house:

18Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:

21For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
