You've just demonstrated that morality does not, in fact, come from the bible.

The example you gave does not pertain to Christians -- but that has nothing to do with our own choice. Jesus came to bring what the Bible calls the "New Covenant," which was not like the Mosaic Covenant (the stoning of rebellious children being a part of that). Jeremiah 31:31-34 describes the New Covenant: it was to be written on the HEARTS of believers, not on tablets of stone, as were the Mosaic laws. While this is literal, it is also symbolic: God was saying that He wants us to be free from the nearly endless list of laws. Jesus' and Paul's teachings uphold this concept.
If you have about 5 minutes, read Romans 7, which explains this concept further: http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?book_id=52&chapter=7&version=50&context=chapter

Well think you might have answered your own questions. As people evolved the need for the drastic measures mentioned in the Bible decreased. Thus that in itself is a good reason not to take the Bible literally else we would all end up in jail if we did all the things the Bible says we should do.

AS a Catholic Christian, I am to interpret the Bible in its whole context: verse in chapter, chapter in book, book in testament,Testaments(Old and New) together and all in, with through, for, under and with Christ in the Holy Spirit.
Also the whole Bible(including the 7 Deuterocanonicals/"Apocrypha") in the whole of Apostolic Tradition in the full and authoritative Church
The Catholic Church does the interpreting
Bans on Abortion, slavery, polygamy ,cloning, etc are not directly found in the Bible
but only if the Bible is read in light of Apostolic Tradition and Church application ofChrist's teaching,"Do to others what you would have them do to you."
Even church leaders sometimes shy away from socially and economically disturbing mandates of Bible/Tradition/Church
The Bible alone shows verses taht are very barbaric and one can"proove' anything by Bible quotes as Satan did with Jesus when he tempted Him.

We RECEIVE the word, not pick it apart. There are many examples of how times are different now than they were in the bible. In other words, we don't stone our children for being rebellious, but we do discipline them. In those days, that's how they disciplined their children. We don't take a word like "stone" and obey it. We SEE the message the bible gives us about discipline and try to follow it.

We study the Bible and try to understand it. Slavery, for example, was permitted for Jews that lived under Mosaic law, but no Christian is under Mosaic law and we therefore do not practice slavery. If you read the Bible, you will come to understand this since you will actually see the verses that you cite in their proper context.

"stone your children?". Would that be with cocaine or alcohol? Maybe it's better not to have children.
Christians listen to everything in the Bible. They then act upon the PRINCIPLE.

Hypocritical B.S. There are many things in the bible that through simple logic and common sense disprove the bible as a nonfiction book.

Have you ever heard of "out of context?" Do you really think that God does not know what He's saying to us? Come on! Time to get involved with a Bible study. God's trying to talk to you and you're not listening. Better yet - you're listening with your eyes - try listening with your heart.

That's in the old testament. And there is allot more to it than that. But I guess just like your accusation towards Christians, You picked and chose something from the old testament to get others to listen to you.

That second part of your question is from the Old Testament. Plus, we are supposed to accept the Bible as a WHOLE, not just pick out the parts that we don't like.
