Choosing either of the two options cannot be a satisfying answer. I wish to answer this way. Religion prescribed both spiritual guidance and a complete lifestyle. Now , if you observe the free world, religion is sought to seek spiritual guidance but each one defines or experiences spirituality in his own way. Then,as far as lifestyle is concerned, some parts of it are adopted from the religious traditions. The Christmas and similar festivities in other cases for example, change the lifestyle for the exceptional occasions. Thus to me it is mostly spiritual guidance -whenever such a need is felt and occasional effect on lifestyle.

Some non-profit religions are false guides.
A personal relationship with the Invisible God/reading the Bible is better for many it seems to me.

It is for some people. For others it is a means to control, for others still it is a way to alleviate stress.

The Gospels, and what Jesus teaches, ARE a lifestyle, they are not advice. Jesus never uses any and, if, or buts.
