...and the Universe was created roughly 1,000 years after the Sumerians invented beer, could it be possible that the beer itself was responsible for the world's creation? Might it make more sense to found a new religion, based upon the worship of beer?

When the bible reads like this:

1 Timothy 2:11-15
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.

Ephesians 5:22-24
Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.

Im Catholic and am considering having it done.(like most of my Catholic neighbors). I was told in school that each time you use condom is a sin. Im hoping a vasectomy is just one thus keeping my sin total to a minimum.

Is it because your holy book says that your messiah died for your sins? Is it because it says that your god is the only real living god? Is it because you feel very deeply with steadfast conviction that your book is correct? Is it because you're absolutely sure that your god listens to you & intervenes in your life? Is it because you've been guaranteed everlasting peace in the afterlife if you believe?

If I ALSO have a holy book which tells me that my messiah died for me, that my god is the only real & living god, & if I also feel deeply with steadfast conviction that my book is correct, that my god listens & intervenes, & that I'll attain peace in the afterlife if I follow the wisdom of my god....

...then what makes you right & me wrong? Is it that your faith, i.e. your feelings & convictions, somehow trump mine? Is it that what you KNOW to be true is somehow definitely more true than what I KNOW to be true because you feel very very strongly that you know the truth?

I am a Christian and diligintly seek out the truth. I love the Lord, but I truly have a hard time believing that simply because a person rejects the truth means that they are to suffer an eternity of being burned and tormented FOREVER. That is not the identity of a loving God, which Jehovah IS a loving God. Check out these verses and tell me what you think...

Matthew 10:28 "And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to DESTROY both body and soul in hell."
(since when did destroy mean eternal torture??)

2Peter 2:6..."and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes, condemned them to DESTRUCTION making them an example to those who afterward would live ungodly."

If something is turned to ashes and DESTROYED how can it be subject to eternal torment?

Come on fellow Christians, lets really research what we believe and why we believe it before we get on soap boxes. We worship a God of love.

If christians control 75% of the voting population, a good christian elected body would be able to get enough votes to overturn the "church and state" seperation, RIGHT?

A good christian elected body would be able to get the 10 commandments put on the Federal law books, RIGHT?

A good christian elected body would be able to get christianity named the official religion of the USA RIGHT?

Kinda funny that this hasn't happened, huh?

As a good christian nation, isn't it our duty to keep as many people in line and going to heaven as possible?

Personally, I think it's because of the 75% self reporting christians, most of them believe in FREEDOM more than they believe in God, and give such an imaginary being "lip service" just to fit in...Maybe you aren't as powerful a group as you thought...

Personally, I'm relieved. I love freedom. And I never cared much for fitting in.

Feel free to answer any or all of my questions listed above...

Please visit this website and tell me what you think about it.
http://www.forthebibletellsmeso.org/indexe.htm

It was written by a Christian mother who changed her way of thinking, even though it was too late to salvage her relationship with her daughter.

Please note that I am not looking for responses about why being gay is wrong. Please only comment if you read the site, and perhaps view the movie.

Quote from the website:
"Winner of the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the Seattle International Film Festival, Dan Karslake's provocative, entertaining documentary brilliantly reconciles homosexuality and Biblical scripture, and in the process reveals that Church-sanctioned anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a significant (and often malicious) misinterpretation of the Bible. As the film notes, most Christians live their lives today without feeling obliged to kill anyone who works on the Sabbath or eats shrimp (as a literal reading of scripture dictates). "

For example, I know a school in Michigan set aside a prayer room for Muslims. Although, they also have a chapel set aside too. And CU-Boulder let Bill McCartney run his "Promise Keepers" (a fundamentalist Christian group) using university facilities for some time...

Personally I wouldn't approve of any of those expenditures, but I'm curious where the double-standard exists?

I mean, They take money and dreams from desperate and ill people time and time again. It is so sad and downright sickening that they are allowed to do this. I love America and our freedom of enterprise, but this is just wrong :(

Love is long-suffering and kind.

Love is not jealous,

it does not brag,

does not get puffed up,

does not behave indecently,

does not look for its own interests,

does not become provoked.

It does not keep account of the injury.

It does not rejoice over unrighteousness,

but rejoices with the truth.

It bears all things,

believes all things,

hopes all things,

endures all things.

I asked a simple question asking about the scientific basis morality and you guys just proved how unscientific minded you really are. You atheists really are something. You praise science and scientific fact all day long but when someone asks you for proof all you can give is insults and emotions. Those atheists who did not do this then I am not talking to you. But you should meet with those who are guarding your faith because they are in reality no different than their christian counterparts. You have proved to me that your atheism is based on faith

What do you think the one truth about God is, that the world doesn't get?
You see I feel that God has Soverign reign, and that not many people in the world understand that. The world in general doesn't know or won't allow themselves to know, that He is Creator of all we see and don't see. And that it is only because of His Soverign will that any of us have our being.

...what do you think that tells you about your religion? Is there any shred of validity in the negative attention that your religion receives? Are the factors that elicit negative attention a significant part of your religion? Does it matter that those elements are obviously significant to others?

Please be honest and analytical. Thanks.
