Was the horn a shofar? If so, this type of horn is mentioned in the Old Testament.

Note that there are quite a few different denominations that call themselves "Church of God". Many are Pentecostal in nature; some are Sabbatarian, and there are other types, too. Not all of them use horns. I've been to several Church of God services and have never seen horns used, but it sounds interesting. Click the link below to see how many Church of God groups there really are (and that's probably just a partial list).

It was probably a reference to a shofar, the horn the Israelite priests blew when there was a message of great importance to tell the Jewish people. The shofar is a ram's horn. Whenever God spoke to His people (the Israelites) the person he spoke through (usually Moses during the Exodus) would blow the shofar and this would signify they better listen up because what was about to be said was important.
I'm not "Church of God" so I can't be sure, but this is my best guess.

The shofar , a well-known symbol of Rosh Hashanah , is one of the earliest instruments used in Jewish music , to call an assembly , to signal sacrifice , or to panic the enemy in battle
Usually made from a ram’s horn , the shofar can also be made from the horns of other animals , including those of a goat or sheep
This instrument has remained unchanged for over 5,000 years ...

please don't take it that all church of God churches are like that, just like this one you come across some churches that are nuts sometimes.. there are many kinds of church of God churches, church of God in Christ, pentecostal church of God, there are church of God [baptist], church of God mission [my great great uncle pastored one of these] and his was primarily baptist, and the list goes on, the shofar [the horn you are talking about] was used for a call to worship in the old testament.
