If christians control 75% of the voting population, a good christian elected body would be able to get enough votes to overturn the "church and state" seperation, RIGHT?

A good christian elected body would be able to get the 10 commandments put on the Federal law books, RIGHT?

A good christian elected body would be able to get christianity named the official religion of the USA RIGHT?

Kinda funny that this hasn't happened, huh?

As a good christian nation, isn't it our duty to keep as many people in line and going to heaven as possible?

Personally, I think it's because of the 75% self reporting christians, most of them believe in FREEDOM more than they believe in God, and give such an imaginary being "lip service" just to fit in...Maybe you aren't as powerful a group as you thought...

Personally, I'm relieved. I love freedom. And I never cared much for fitting in.

Feel free to answer any or all of my questions listed above...

I do feel that most of the US puts more emphasis on the freedom of religion than of being christian even though 75% of the US is christian. It is a right and anyone trying to change that would be destroying a human right. I would not support an amendment that makes everyone an atheist. I believe each person has a choice. I also believe that the government has not business in the religion business. Look thru history and you will see lots of instances where government and religion mixed and there is usually blood.

Very interesting thoughts. You're 'run of the mill' Christians are pretty respectable folks, but if Evangelicals have their way everything you just mentioned will come to pass.
Its all about extremism. The more people who convert to an extreme religion, the more freedom suffers...until you have what is happening in the Middle East.

1) Right
2) Not necessarily---Good Christians often believe in seperaton of church and state, as did Jesus.
3) Again, a good Christian organization might not be worried about trying to tie the government to a brand of Christian orthodoxy.
4) Yeah. Maybe Christians are not as controlling or arrogant or power-hungry as you think...
5) Yeah, maybe we are hypocrites, and powerless.. Or maybe, JUST MAYBE, we are not as stupid and arrogant as you think we are.
come to think of it, NO ONE is as stupid and arrogant as you think we are
6) I, too, love freedom, have often voted Libertarian, and do not fit in
7)Ok, I just did

because not all christians believe like a fundie does.

also there would be a revolution.

espeically since you would then have "which version of christianity do we codify?"

sliding by certain aspects like "no liquor stores open on sundays" is different from a jehovahs witless outlawing halloween or fun of any kind or a catholic priest repealing the laws for pedophilia.

Here's one I always thought of. If 75% of the US is Christian, why do we continue making prisons?
