I asked a simple question asking about the scientific basis morality and you guys just proved how unscientific minded you really are. You atheists really are something. You praise science and scientific fact all day long but when someone asks you for proof all you can give is insults and emotions. Those atheists who did not do this then I am not talking to you. But you should meet with those who are guarding your faith because they are in reality no different than their christian counterparts. You have proved to me that your atheism is based on faith

Umm. No one is guarding "my faith".

As for something being proved to you. What is your proof? It is more of your opinion based on a question you asked. From a scientific standpoint, there is no way that you had enough participants in your little study to make any statistical difference. Try asking a thousand atheists in a controlled setting. Then take and work with those results. Then publish your results and have others duplicate your work. Then you can start to talk about proving. Science works that way. It is not just a guy in a coat making a decision based on a question he asked.

Atheism is, and has been more provable over the years than religion ever has. The only explanation that could ever be given to support religion was that, "God did it", or to quote the Bible. Almost all things ever mentioned in the Bible have been proven through scientific process and evolution, everything that anyone ever says is a supernatural occurence has been proven through science. The light at the end of the tunnel, for instance, has been proven as the electrons in the mind breaking down and dying. I could go on forever, but I think you're fooling yourself with that blatent hypocrisy.

for my section, the reason maximum atheists are atheists is because they favor extra information before they suspect something. the way the options works, seriously is not prepared to paintings with the religion (concept without reason) element, so if an omnipotent being shown previous a shadow of a doubt, then atheism doesn't be very valid, or it ought to easily be denial. Secondly, the reaction to Islam, if it changed into Islam, is only a cultural element. What if it changed into Mormanism? Or Hinduism? Or heck, only for relaxing, Pastafarianism? even if that is reality, that is reality. If God got here to me and said "I created the universe, and that i favor to start up the church of severe fives, the position all prayer and verbal replace must be accomplished via severe speed hand reachable contact", i ought to say "properly, a reality is a reality! severe 5!"

Well, maybe because your question was pretty offensive and ridiculous. There doesn't need to be a scientific basis for morality, just a logical one. And why would anyone say that their child is just animated chemicals? Just because we're atheists we don't recognize humanity? Your assumption, and sadly, it is not an uncommon one, that atheists don't have morality because they don't believe in god is baseless and insulting. Morality existed before anyone thought up god, and it will exist long after people have consigned the belief in god to the mythology books where it belongs.

"You praise science and scientific fact all day long but when someone asks you for proof all you can give is insults and emotions".

I'm sorry. I didn't realize that atheists are supposed to be robots, empty of all human emotion.

I read your previous question and you have made a lot of assumptions regarding atheism.
Yes, human emotion is a series of chemical reactions, but that doesn't mean that I don't give feelings any credence.
We are all slaves to our biology, regardless of race or religion.
You asked your question in an angry, "emotional" tone, therefore you received emotional responses.
What did you expect?

And you prove what a lier you are.

Several of us said quite clearly that morality was based on evolution and the evolution of society. Both of which are scientific ideas. Just because you have a problem with us does not mean that we didn't answer your rather moronic little question.

or maybe those that answered it aren't as long winded, patient and amused as i am (because I always try to poke fun at celebrities and scum AKA: scientologists and metrosexuals) at re-writing the same crap over and over for a question that has been written 1000+ times a week.

again, morality comes from society. if religion were true, then everyone would have the same morality as there would be one set standard since there is one set god.

fact is that morality exists in nature as well. we see this as even simple minded single celled organizms like carrot top and pauly shore exhibit some level of morality and awareness that there are social customs around them that prohibit bad prop comedy.

(ok, i"m on the spot and doing two things at once- save the stage hook for later)

but seriously, if morality was anything except a behavior pattern or social norms we wouldnt' see chimps, dolphins, ants, etc. having any other form of it.

also morality changes as social norms do.

there was a time when it was ok for catholic priests to have sex with prostitutes. a practice that today would be deemed immoral for anybody was fairly commonplace among catholic governments around five centuries ago.

morality is simply a social code by which creatures live, or are ostracised. it is something taught by parents and varies from culture to culture and existed long before religion or religious writings.

we see in social animals the same kind of "no-nos" that encompases morality. chimps who don't groom other chimps in thier neighborhood (name for group of chimps) is ostraciszed. just like a person in a community who doesn't follow the social norms of that community.

early mankind might have of course injected thier moral beliefs into the writings of the time (bible) just as you see any writing reflecting the social norms and beliefs of the culture of the author.

in order for you to understand this, you too must look at the matter scientifically without making statements you have no proof to make. saying "god told man to write it down" is not proof.

saying that chimps, who to my knowledge don't read bibles and ride motorcycles (outside of those serving the presiden'ts cabinet that is) have thier own morality and set of codes to live by. that is in essence what morality is.

you can say that many morals are codified in early religious writings, but the source of those morals needs to be put forth. the fact that it is exhibited elsewhere in nature as well as non-primates to varying degrees based on intellect, and the fact that authors even today tend to inject the morality of thier times shows a pattern.

enough of this thesis, im out of carrot top and bush comments for now anyway and most people probably tuned out after the first three lines anyway. So to all the rest of you, here is a list of letter swear words in code:

No one represents me except me, no one is "guarding my faith". I tend to criticize everyone equally so I've taken to task at least as many people claiming to be atheists as theists.

'If' what you're saying is that there are people who claim to be atheist who are just as illogical as theists. Then I fully agree and challenge them regularly also.

"Those atheists who did not do this then I am not talking to you." Then stop generalizing in every other sentence. So here it is. You've generalized numerous times so every argument you've made falls apart. You have a day, ok.

when are people going t realize you can't judge some one on religion. Nobody knows who has it right. Whether you're Jewish, Christian, Athiest, Morman. Get over and just live your life. Don't force your beliefs on others. Is like trying to turn a straight person gay.
