Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen (Ephesians1:11).

Faith is the very foundation of our lives as Old Orthodox Christians. Without faith, God cannot fully reveal Himself to us through Jesus Christ.

Faith enables us to know God
It is the key to salvation

And I know I'm probably being naive before I get yelled at for it!
I was reading them because I didn't know why they refuse blood transfusions but I was shocked by the number of nasty answers some of them from different religions.
Surely as you are all "people of god" you should show compassion and forgiveness not condemnation for someones choices?

Rev 21:3,4 Which part of this scripture do you look forward to the most??? :)

3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Which part do you look forward to in Pardise? I look forward to welcoming back our dead loved ones. Everytime we talk about it at the meetings I always get tears in my eyes, Imagine that time! Wow! Or, everyone being healthy! Can you imagine no pains?? Wow! What do you look forward to?

Prominent creation scientist Em Adjineri (say it out loud) has been studying pigs and discovered that they prove that evolution is false.

According to the Theory of Evolution, species adapt to their surroundings. This includes adapting to avoid predators. Pigs are slow animals and can't really run away from predators. If evolution were true, they would have a mechanism to avoid predators.

None of a pig's predators have wings. Therefore, the best mechanism to avoid predators would be for pigs to grow wings. That way, they could fly away from their predators.

Therefore, the only thing that could possibly prove that evolution is true is a pig that has evolved wings. According to Em Adjineri, creationists refuse to believe in evolution because pigs don't have wings.

Creationists will believe in evolution when pigs fly.

Or do you just see the bible telling history from ONE people's perspective?

In other words, do you acknowledge the facts that there were other people, civilizations BEFORE the Hebrew's historical/chronological story began and during there were other people, civilizations in parts of the world- Asia, Africa, Americas, Europe that they knew nothing of.

Do you also acknowledge that these people's experiences, social, cultural, spiritual are just as valid a picture and have you explored them (especially if you descended from those peoples like I did; my ancestors were probably Vikings) to see what you can glean from them?

Or have you taken biblical as the ONLY history of the world or the only one that matters to you?

Old Orthodox Christianity faith was founded in the year 33 by Jesus Christ, the Son of the God. It has not changed since that time.

What ever happened to Christ's commandment
John 13:34, 35
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

One person claimed to have Christians "cornered".

He asked what happened to people who were born before Jesus. Will these people go to Hell?

If he actually read the Bible, he would know that the Old Testament talks about a savior coming. The Old Testament authors were clearly talking about Jesus, so they accepted him.

The next atheist argument is that if this is true, then that means only Jews in that lived before Jesus will go to Heaven. This doesn't seem fair when you think about all the people that never got to hear about Judaism.

The rebuttal to this is simple. The prophets tried to get people to worship God and only God, but many people refused and feel away into cults like the ones that worshipped Baal. Many people DID heart the truth.

As far as the ones who didn't, only God knows. We do not pretend to know every single answer.

Agree?

Im not a feminist, and I dont like them either, but Im willing to side with them if it means exposing religion. fact is, in a few years, women wont need men anymore because the sperm wont be needed to make a woman pregnant. mice have already been created this way. in certain animal species, there are no males.
maybe in several thousand years, humans will no longer bare male descendants. what will this make religion look like? jesus and mohammad were useless to humanity? its all just biology and nothing spiritual?

(Questions for Christians...)

Then how did your spirit get into your physical body?

Obviously the spirit had to be around before your body was...

So if you do not believe you existed before your life on Earth...then do you believe we will return home to God...to Heaven?

If you believe we return home...then where did we come from in the first place?

Old Orthodox Christianity is not a religion, an institution or an organization. It is, to the contrary, the way of life initiated by Jesus Christ and a living organism comprised of those who believe in Him.

The CHURCH IS PEOPLE - GOD's PEOPLE - WHO

gather together in His name, thereby calling themselves Christian;
share a common faith and hope based on the love of God;
affirm the truth, or orthodoxy, of their faith, belief and experience; and
proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ to all.
An orthdox Christian, then, is one who fully lives and proclaims God's Truth as it has been revealed by Jesus Christ and experienced everywhere and at all times by His People, the Church.

Just curious how Y!A Christians feel about this guy's column re: global warming: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58513

He says, basically, that God has promised not to flood the earth again, so we, as mere humans, need to stop thinking that there's anything that we should or even could do about global warming.

I found this statement especially hard to understand:
"It is so presumptuous and haughty of believers and non-believers alike to think man is in control of the destiny of the planet God created for us. "

Taking that way of thinking, do any of us have free will at all with regards to controlling the destiny of the lives that God created for us? Didn't God ask you to act as stewards of this planet?

Or, is this guy just a nutjob?

Is this too funny or what?
Celebrating more than one mass a day may push Roman Catholic priests over the alcohol limit if tougher drink driving rules come into effect in Ireland, a leading clergyman said on Friday.

Altar wine is an essential part of the Eucharist, the ritual in which Catholics believe the priest turns bread and wine into the body and blood of Jesus Christ. A priest drinks a small amount of the wine during the mass.

Under proposed Irish legislation, the limit of 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood is expected to be tightened but no new level has yet been specified.

Because the ranks of the Catholic clergy are thinning out, priests -- especially in rural areas -- often drive to several churches on Sunday to say mass for congregations who have no resident clergy.
Irish media quoted another priest from western Ireland as saying he often took three services in a day.

Ok here is a tough question for you Christians.

You believe that humans can only ascend to heaven by accepting Jesus as their savior.

No one comes to the Father except through Jesus.

This is because our sin is too heavy and intolerable in heaven.

That is why Jesus sacrificed Himself from the first place; for our sin.

If Jesus did not die for our sin we would not be accepted in heaven.

So what about the people that died before Jesus' cruxifiction?

Will they not be accepted in heaven since Jesus did not die for their sin yet?

Remember that without Jesus' sacrifice humans' is not acceptable in heaven.

What about the good people that died just before Jesus died?

If they are accepted in heaven or recieves a chance to put Jesus as their savior on the judgment day then the whole essence of the sacrificing thing of Jesus is void.

This is the key in a Christians life.

But this essential key is seemingly at doubt in my eyes.

So can you explain this to me?

If you honestly felt that you could not deal with the lack of proof and poor evidence provided, and if you still felt that God wanted you to pursue the path of unbelief-would you?
Would you turn away from God if you felt that was His will?
If God wanted a world with Atheists in it and he need you to be among their number, could you honestly embrace Atheism?
Or would you defy God's WIll?
