Just curious how Y!A Christians feel about this guy's column re: global warming: http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=58513
He says, basically, that God has promised not to flood the earth again, so we, as mere humans, need to stop thinking that there's anything that we should or even could do about global warming.
I found this statement especially hard to understand:
"It is so presumptuous and haughty of believers and non-believers alike to think man is in control of the destiny of the planet God created for us. "
Taking that way of thinking, do any of us have free will at all with regards to controlling the destiny of the lives that God created for us? Didn't God ask you to act as stewards of this planet?
Or, is this guy just a nutjob?

God put us on this Earth that he created and told us to take care of it. Now we've pretty much poisoned the beautiful world that God has created for us, and we need to at least TRY to fix it. God's just not gonna go "ZAP!" and fix the hole in the ozone layer, is he? Why should he have to clean up the mess that we made? He's merciful, but he also has to be fair.

I think it's fair to say this guy's a nutjob. Even if he thinks God promised not to flood the earth again, I have no idea how that relates to global warming. We should do everything in our power to care for this earth, because it's the only one we have. This is the same whether you believe in a supreme being or not.
As a Christian, I agree when you said God has asked us to be stewards, and we should be caring for his creation instead of exploiting it.

Any person's relationship with their religion is their own business. Except when it comes to issues such as this. Just because a book that you have decided to believe in without any evidence says that the earth won't flood again that is no reason to just continue going as before.
It would be morally wrong for a Christian or any other person to ignore the potential negative side effects of global warming, just because of a personally held belief. You are making other people bear the burden of your unsupported decision.

this is an extremely previous difficulty Dana. there is not any question that hypocritical demagogues control the loads. The huge pink center of the rustic has little thought they're being performed. Are politicians extremely that dim that they suspect interior the literal iterpretation of the Bible? Do they lie (to themselves even) attempting to control the loads? sure and sure. The cornucopian economists are direct descendents of the Christian monotheists. God made us in His photograph and gave us the worldwide to apply. supplies are infinite. Human ingenuity can conquer any difficulty, even common thermodynamic issues; through fact we are specific, diverse from, different than for and "above" the organic worldwide. the commonplace regulations do no longer prepare to us. technology doesn’t care if perhaps later somebody is going to swoop down and save us. technology doesn’t care if the degenerate hippie atheists become appropriate. technology in basic terms cares approximately info. "technology is brutally agnostic". - John Rennie Observational info shows we are having an ecological difficulty. they are in a position to't coach there's a God and that i will't coach there is not any longer. enable's call it a draw and all grow to be agnostic. i like the recent gospel of religious environmentalism: God gave us the worldwide to guard so as that it will nevertheless be right here for destiny generations. good sufficient for me.

I am a Born Again Christian.... and HERE .... is the TRUTH about.... GLOBAL WARMING..... "IF you can Handle IT!"
ONCE AGAIN....
Global Warming MEANS "World Wide Warming!" It is ONLY A Political Term = NOT based in Real Science!
The EARTH is covered by "Three Quarters WATER!" Basic Science, it takes ONE-Btu to raise One Cubic Centimeter ONE Degree Centigrade!
HOW many "Gazillion Cubic Centimeters are there ONLY on the Surface of Planet Earth COVERED by 3/4 Water?"
HOW many Btu's would it take TO RAISE THE SURFACE TEMPERATURE ONE DEGREE?
DO THE MATH!
And, were are the Million TEMPERATURE MEASURING SITES on the Many Oceans THAT TELL US THAT THE OCEAN TEMPERATURES ARE RISING? Not!
Oh yes, POLAR temperatures have varied LESS Than one degree in the past 100-Years. Noticed I said VARIED, = NOT RISEN!
Thanks for ASKING! RR

Global warming, is not the most pressing problem we have. We have many more serious problems, we need to address, with God's guidance. We are responsible for our own future. The world is suppose to be challenging, so that it will bring out the most in us. After a crisis, people are ussually surprized at how people pull together, and the good in them comes out. We need this pulling together spirit, to handle problem before they become crises.
