I think your mentioning Matthew 19:10-12
He talks about the Different types of Eunichs, the ones born with a health or physical disorder, the ones that made themselves Eunichs...or...
The Spiritual Eunichs, the people that focus their lives to serve God with limited distractions. But it doesn't mean you can't be married and serving God as well (1Tim 4:3).
He mainly is mentioning that there are advantages in being single (or married) in they are both personal decisions that can be blessed by God.

good topic!!! thanks for the question.

Thanks for the verse...I really don't know how to answer your question though. I don't know why Jesus said that but it may have more of an importance at the time He said that, you don't hear about eunichs much now. The only people I can think of is the Catholic priests that renounce marriage but as we all know that has caused some problems too with child molesting and such. Marriage is a gift God gave us in the beginning and not something evil, but if God truly is calling you to give that up and not go there at all then He will help you and bless you for that.

Did He really mean eunuch as in a man who has been castrated? Did He possibly mean a man who voluntarily forgoes marriage and children?

Maybe the meanings of the words have changed over the centuries? Maybe an error in translation over the centuries?

He stated it matter-of-factly.
"There are some..." simply states a fact.

Regardless of what we are in life, Paul's words ring true, "Godliness with contentment is great gain."

We might use the word "impotent" rather than eunuch today, but the picture remains the same. Can I be content in Christ regardless of my situation?
