if you recognized your sins, what's the point in telling God if He knows you recognized your sins already?

Upon being saved we are forgiven completely for all our sins.
That's what Jesus died for,He took upon Himself ALL of our sins and was punished for them so we wouldn't have to be punished and spend eternity in hell for them.
But if we deliberately sin we are adding suffering and pain to His already suffering and pain on the cross and that's a slap in the face.
Those are the sins we need to confess and ask forgiveness for.
Because our deliberate sins are not covered on the cross as Jesus already suffered enough for us.
But the great part about this is upon being saved our desire to sin and the power sin has over us is removed and actually dies with our old sinful nature.
We then inherit the very nature of God Himself through the Holy Spirit making sin as disgusting to us as a dog turning back to it's own vomit.
So we don't want to sin on purpose because that's going against our new nature and who we are in the body of Christ.

God wants us to acknowledge our sins to Him. By doing so we are pointing out a flaw in our lives that we can work on. Sort of like with AA, the first step to solving a problem is to admit there is one. God already knows about our sins, He wants us to know about them.

When you confess to God your sins, you're recognizing that you were wrong and asking for forgiveness.

yes, God does know all things, and if you know that you are a sinner and if you can confess that to God, then possibley you can be forgiven of those sins. but if you just expect them to be acknowledged and thats it. then you will not have learned from those sins and there fore will continue on sinning. and who would want to forgive someone who keeps doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results?

I am not a religious sort, but I think that logically, a human trait is acceptance vs. denial. When you ACCEPT your wrong doings, in this case it would be in the form of confessional; you are doing what is expected/requested of you within your chosen religion's boundaries...but from a somewhat non-religious perspective, you are simply allowing yourself to begin any change or healing that you need to do.
Religious or not, confession (acceptance) is a very healthy way to start anew.

It's the act of confession and realizing you have sin. Admiting you have a problem/sin (not being in denial of it) is the first step to healing.

When you offend someone, they know what you did, and so do you. If you love them and your relationship with them, you would express your sorrow and try to assure them that you would try not to offend them again. If they love you and cherish their relationship with you, they will forgive you, and the relationship would be restored once again.

God is no different in this scenario. If we repent (heart felt sorrow) and confess (tell Him we are sorry) our sins ( the things we have done to offend God and others), God loves us enough to forgive us. In both cases... you as the offender has to ask. If you are insincere, they will know. God is willing.. are you?

to confess is to own up to what you've done. He may know that you've sinned but you can still deny it. Confessing you've sinned to God so you are basically telling him he is greater than you or anyone else in this world will ever be. You put your problems in his hands.

He has to know that YOU know the ramifications of those sins and that you are remorseful enough to not want to repeat them. So, it's mostly for you... not Him, He knows everything already. It's kind of like when you steal a dollar from your father, you must tell him you won't do that again. Otherwise, you'll tend to repeat the crime.

Because God tells us to. If we sin we are to confess our sin, & He (Jesus) is faithful & just to forgive us our sin & cleanse us from it (1Jn2:9,10).

See? We need to be cleansed from it. If we don't confess it, we will continue in it & then probably die early. The Holy Spirit washes us in the Word by bringing God truth to our minds. The Truth sets us free from wrong thinking. Because the root of sins is usually believing a lie.

James16 Confess your faults one to another; & pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. I did this when I couldn't quit a tobacco addiction. I didn't get healed right away, but the healing was given right away. As sisters in faith gave me verses. But when I actually made a song of the verses & sang them, then the healing came & I never had tobacco again. I was healed from the addiction.

So? We confess our sins to one another for healing. And so we can pray for one another. And there are other ladies in Christ Righteousness who are agreeing for your healing in prayer with you. And they share with you verses that the Holy Spirit brings to mind. This is my personal experience. The Christians don't have to be brothers & can be sisters. This is Christ Priesthood ministry.
